Students follow a project from beginning to end and present their results at a scientific forum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style6\"><span class=\"style4\"><strong>WCSU\u2019s Biology SURF Program is now accepting applications<\/strong>! Applications should be postmarked <del>no later than the deadline of March 15 of the application year<\/del>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style6\"><span class=\"style4\"><br \/>\n<\/span><strong>INTERESTED IN APPLYING?<\/strong>\u00a0Check out the links below for eligibility requirements, application information, and mentors.<br \/>\n**<strong>IMPORTANT**<\/strong>: you will need to contact your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/biology\/surf\/faculty-mentors\/\">faculty mentor<\/a> months in advance of the application deadline so as to provide adequate time for collaboration on the project proposal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style4\"><strong><br \/>\n<span class=\"style4\">WCSU\u2019s Biology SURF is modeled on the grant-seeking process:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students collaborate with potential mentors to define and develop a project<\/li>\n<li>Applicants write research proposals for their projects<\/li>\n<li>Faculty review the proposals and recommend awards<\/li>\n<li>Students carry out the work over a 8 to 10-week period during the summer<\/li>\n<li>At the conclusion of the program, students submit a technical paper and give a presentation at a scientific forum.
