All students must be U.S. citizens or legal residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style6\"><span class=\"style4\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements for WCSU Students<\/strong><br \/>\nTo be eligible for a SURF you must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"style4\">Be a continuing undergraduate student<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"style4\">Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"style4\">Completed 30 credits at WCSU or at another school in a biology or related program AND have successfully completed General Biology I and General Biology II courses (BIO103 and BIO104 or equivalent)<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>Be registered for the Fall semester before beginning your SURF project.<\/li>\n<li><span class=\"style4\">Not be under any academic or disciplinary sanction<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"style4\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements for Visiting (Non-WCSU) Students<\/strong><br \/>\nTo be eligible for SURF, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"style4\">Be a continuing undergraduate student and eligible for fall term registration at a U.S. accredited college or university.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0\/4.0.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Complete the second semester or third quarter at U.S. accredited college or university.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Not be under any academic or disciplinary sanction.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Students need to currently be matriculated in a degree-granting undergraduate program.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Note: High school students who are co-enrolled in college courses are not eligible for this program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"style4\"><strong>Expectations<\/strong><br \/>\nUpon receiving a SURF, students sign an agreement to fulfill the following requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"style4\">Devote full effort to conducting the SURF project (min 30 hours per week).<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Participate in the project for the full ten-week period.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Submit two progress reports approved by their mentors to the WCSU Biology SURF committee.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Submit an abstract of their project to the WCSU Biology SURF committee.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Submit a written technical report approved by the mentor to the WCSU Biology SURF committee.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Present an oral presentation of his\/her work in a public or scientific forum.<\/li>\n<li class=\"style4\">Abide by WCSU\u00a0<a
