\njescaravage@pegasustr.org<\/td>\n		Pegasus has ongoing volunteer opportunities and are in need of 10 volunteers for 10 hours each. Volunteer opportunities include the following:<\/p>\n

Some volunteer opportunities require horse experience, but many do not such as gardening, event planning and facilities assistance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Horse Leaders<\/strong> need a general knowledge of horses and are responsible for leading horses during therapeutic riding classes. The horse leader oversees the horse, constantly monitoring its mood, energy level, and any change in its behavior.<\/p>\n

Sidewalkers<\/strong> do not need horse experience and are responsible for communicating with the participants and offering them emotional and physical support during therapeutic riding classes. The sidewalker is responsible for the participant’s safety, assisting them in maintaining balance and reinforcing the instructor’s directions.<\/p>\n

Horse Handlers<\/strong> need a general knowledge of horses and must have the ability to halter and lead horses during therapeutic horsemanship classes and\/or assist barn staff in preparation of scheduled classes. The horse handler is responsible for the horse in correlation with assisting the participants as needed.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
