LGBTQ+ On and Off Campus Resources
Last updated: March 1, 2020
INTRODUCTION
According to the National School Climate Report, 86 percent of LGBTQ youth reported being harassed at colleges and universities, compared to 27 percent of students overall. College years can be challenging for all students, yet those who identify as LGBTQ often face additional pressures or concerns. Within the below listed resources, LGBTQ+ students at Western Connecticut State University (“WCSU” or “University”) can find resources and information about support systems available to help them navigate the campus environment.
There are many listed resources are available on (or near the surrounding) Danbury area. A list of these resources have been catalogued below for any needed assistance. If there are additional resources to be included, contact with a member of the Office of Diversity and Equity to modify and/or include more resources can be done either by phone at (203) 837-8444 or by email at ode@wcsu.edu.
If you feel that you need additional support and would like to seek that support outside the confines of WCSU, please see the following off-campus resources. As always, the Office of Diversity and Equity is always open for your questions and would like to assist you in navigating any help you need.
