The new school will offer educational programming in the areas of STEM and Global Studies. The school will accommodate 600 students from Danbury chosen through a lottery system. The new school is a magnet school because of its theme-based curriculum, but the curriculum will also follow the standard district academic criteria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Cohort 2<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Julia Ferreira (Cohort 2)<\/strong> was appointed as an Assistant Principal at Saxe Middle School. In New Canaan, CT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Cohort 3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Stacy Ewings (Cohort 3)<\/strong> was offered an adjunct professor position at the University of New Haven. She will be teaching a graduate class on elementary literacy in the winter of 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Mallozzi, F., &amp; Heilbronner, N. (in press). The effects of using interactive student notebooks.\u00a0 The Electronic Journal of Science Education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Cohort 4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laura Main (Cohort 4) <\/strong>was appointed as the New Principal at Western Elementary School In Naugatuck, CT<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Morales (Cohort 4)<\/strong> was awarded a NYS Master teacher fellowship in STEM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Morales (Cohort 4)<\/strong> received a national teacher leadership award from Phi Delta Kappa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Natalie Morales (Cohort 4)<\/strong> Invited by the Executive Director of Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) to be a member of the Gallop Poll Advisory Committee for the Gallop Poll World Headquarters, Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathew Swerdloff (Cohort 4)<\/strong> was appointed to the Board of Directors of the New York chapter of Learning Forward (LFNY).\u00a0 LFNY is an affiliate of the national organization, Learning Forward, \u00a0(formerly the National Staff Development Council).\u00a0 Mathew will serve a two year term beginning in September of 2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mathew Swerdloff (Cohort 4)<\/strong> has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist for the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, an agency of the Council of International Exchange of Scholars.\u00a0 Mathew will be traveling to India in spring 2014 to fulfill his scholarship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kristy Zaleta (Cohort 4)<\/strong> accepted a position as Associate Principal of Instruction for Middle Schools in Danbury, CT<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Cohort 5<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matthew Correia (Cohort 5)<\/strong> was appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Willard Elementary School in Berlin, CT, July 1, 2013.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jennifer Eraca (Cohort 5)<\/strong> was elected to the Arlington\u00a0Board of Education in Lagrangeville, NY.\u00a0 She was sworn in July 2, 2013.<br \/>\n<strong>Kristina Hislop (Cohort 5)<\/strong> was appointed Interim Principal of the King Street Campus in Danbury, CT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helen Knudsen (cohort 5)<\/strong> was appointed teacher of the year for her district in Weston, CT.<\/p>\n<p class=\"subTitle\">Prior to Summer and Fall 2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Leadership Positions of Cohort members:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Stephanie Bell (Cohort 3)<\/strong> was appointed as the Principal of the Prospect School in Danbury.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Patricia Cosentino (Cohort 1)<\/strong>\u00a0is the new Superintendent of Schools for Region 12 that includes\u00a0Bridgewater, Roxbury, and Washington, CT.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Mary Fernand (Cohort 5)<\/strong> is the new Department Chair of English at Bethel High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Jake Greenwood (Cohort 2)<\/strong>\u00a0accepted a position as Assistant Principal of Darien High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Patrick Higgins (Cohort 3)<\/strong> accepted a position as Assistant Principal of Joel Barlow High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Raina Kor (Cohort 2)<\/strong>\u00a0has been appointed to fill the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Instruction and Human Resources for the Irvington Union Free School District in Irvington, NY.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Holli Levy (Cohort 2)<\/strong> was appointed as the Elementary Technology Integration Teacher for Ridgefield Public Schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Christopher Longo (Cohort 3)\u00a0<\/strong>will be the Assistant Principal at New Milford High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. Robert O&#8217;Donnell \u00a0(Cohort 4)\u00a0<\/strong>accepted the position as Principal of Wilton High School. \u00a0He has been serving as Acting Principal and was recently offered the role as full-time Principal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr. John Ryan (Cohort 5)<\/strong> was hired as the Department Chair for Applied Studies at Bethel High School.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Annmarie Spatola (Cohort 1)<\/strong> was appointed by Carmel Central School District\u2019s Board of Education to be the English\/Language Arts Department Chair for grades 5-8. She has also been teaching courses and workshops for educators through the Northern Westchester Putnam Teacher Center.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\">Awardees:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Kristy Zaleta (Cohort 4)<\/strong>\u00a0was recently named\u00a0Danbury Public School&#8217;s 2013 Teacher of the Year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"inlineheader\"><strong>Also:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Raina Kor\u2019s (Cohort 2)<\/strong> dissertation was recently published as a book:<\/p>\n<p>Kor, R.
