His creative works<\/p>\n<p>have appeared in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.feministstudies.org\/issues\/vol-30-39\/31-2.html\">Feminist Studies<\/a><\/em><em>, AMBIT, the Connecticut Review,<\/em> <em>Rain Flower,<\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.xueshu.com\/shxj\/201604\/17777012.html\">Shanghai Theatre<\/a><\/em><em>, <\/em>and so on. My scholarly research has been published in peer reviewed journals such as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/scholarworks.wmich.edu\/compdr\/vol50\/iss4\/3\/\">Comparative Drama<\/a><\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/crj\/article-abstract\/11\/1\/1\/5036775\">Classical Receptions Journal<\/a><\/em>, <em>International Theatre Research<\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/15021866.2017.1408249?scroll=top&amp;needAccess=true&amp;journalCode=sibs20&amp;\">The Ibsen Review<\/a><\/em>, <em>The Eugene O\u2019Neill Review<\/em>, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingentaconnect.com\/content\/ttha\/thr\/2012\/00000014\/00000001\/art00006\">The Hardy Review<\/a><\/em>, and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/lic3.12297\">Literature Compass<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Qi has published more than 20 books in fiction, nonfiction, literary translation, and scholarly monographs.<\/p>\n<p>He is the author of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/When-Purple-Mountain-Burns-Novel\/dp\/1592650414\">When the Purple Mountain Burns: A Novel<\/a><\/em><em> (2005), <\/em><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Red-Guard-Fantasies-Other-Stories\/dp\/1592650686\">Red Guard Fantasies and Other Stories<\/a><\/em><em> (2007)<\/em>, and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Twin-Sun-River-American-POW-China\/dp\/0983875308\">Twin-Sun River: An American POW in Chin<\/a><\/em><em>a<\/em> (a novel, 2011). His screenplay <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Purple-Mountain-Story-Rape-Nanking-ebook\/dp\/B003NHRC44\/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Purple+Mountain%2C+shouhua+qi&amp;qid=1552412394&amp;s=books&amp;sr=1-2-spell\">Purple Mountain<\/a><\/em> has been optioned for production and his play <em>Twin-Sun River: An American POW in China<\/em> was staged by the prestigious Shanghai Theater Academy (April 2009).<\/p>\n<p>Among Qi\u2019s literary translations are two Thomas Hardy novels: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/book.douban.com\/subject\/4098086\/\">A Pair of Blue Eyes<\/a><\/em><em> (1994) and <\/em><em><a href=\"https:\/\/book.douban.com\/works\/1049852\">The Well-Beloved<\/a><\/em><em> (1998)<\/em><em>, <\/em>and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Pearl-Jacket-Other-Stories-Contemporary-ebook\/dp\/B0046A9QWI\">Pearl Jacket: Flash Fiction from Contemporary China<\/a><\/em> (2008). Another Hardy-themed book Qi coauthored is <em>Tragic Harmony: Essays on Thomas Hardy\u2019s Fiction and Poetry (2001).<\/em> (2008). Another Hardy-themed book I coauthored is <em><a href=\"https:\/\/baike.baidu.com\/item\/\u56de\u5e94\u60b2\u5267\u7f2a\u65af\u7684\u547c\u5524\/12160492?fr=aladdin\">Tragic Harmony: Essays on Thomas Hardy\u2019s Fiction and Poetry<\/a><\/em><em> (2001).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Qi\u2019s most recent scholarly books include <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.routledge.com\/Adapting-Western-Classics-for-the-Chinese-Stage\/Qi\/p\/book\/9781138214330\">Western Classics for the Chinese Stage<\/a><\/em> (Routledge, 2018), <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palgrave.com\/us\/book\/9781137405142\">The Bronte Sisters in Other Wor(l)ds<\/a><\/em> (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014) and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.palgrave.com\/us\/book\/9780230120877\">Western Literature in China and the Translation of a Nation<\/a><\/em> (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Qi joined the faculty of Western Connecticut State University in 2000 and served as coordinator of the MA in English program (2007-2015). He is the recipient of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ct.edu\/files\/csus-resolutions\/07-033.pdf\">CSU Board of Trustees Research Award<\/a> (2007) and <a href=\"http:\/\/wxy.yzu.edu.cn\/art\/2018\/5\/31\/art_2590_600976.html\">Distinguished Visiting Professor at the College of Liberal Arts, Yangzhou University<\/a> (2007&#8211;present).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ph.
