SUMMARY:Visiting Artist Lecture - Jim Lee\, Interdisciplinary Artist
DESCRIPTION:VISITING ARTIST LECTURE – JIM LEE\, INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTIST:\nTue\, February 4\, 11 a.m. \nVisual & Performing Arts Center\nWCSU\, Westside campus\, room 144\nFree & Open to the Public\nLimited Seating Available\nRSVP required \nJim Lee is an interdisciplinary artist working with multiple materials and forms. Born in Berrien Springs\, Michigan\, he received his B.A. degree from Hope College (Michigan) and his M.F..A degree from the University of Delaware. He lives and works in Brooklyn\, New York\, and is a professor of painting and drawing at Hofstra University. Since 1998\, Lee’s work has been shown throughout the U.S. in galleries and museums\, including the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Islip Art Museum. \nInternational exhibitions have been held in England\, France\, Belgium\, Germany\, and Japan. He is represented by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery in NYC\, where he has had six solo shows\, most recently in September 2024. A promiscuous reverence for found and foraged materials gives Lee’s work a recognizable playfulness . . .” Lee is a recipient of awards\, including artist residencies from the Farpath Foundation in Dijon\, France\, and from the Edward Albee Foundation in Montauk\, New York. \nSince 2001\, Lee’s work has been reviewed in numerous publications: The New York Times\, Los Angeles Times\, Art in America\, Artforum\, New York Magazine\, Huffington Post\, Brooklyn Rail\, and Hyperallergic. \nReserve a spot at www.eventbrite.com/e/visiting-artist-lecture-jim-lee-interdisciplinary-artist-tickets-1153042032759.
