DESCRIPTION:JAZZ\, HIPHOP\, AND DO THE RIGHT THING: The Kathwari Spring Seminars will host Dr. Haneef Nelson of WestConn’s Department of Music in a lecture and discussion of Jazz\, HipHop\, and “Do the Right Thing” at 3:30 p.m. in Room 125 of the Science Building on the university’s Midtown campus. \nNelson’s original compositions have been featured around the world and on albums by the New London Big Band and Dr. Emmet Good’s album “Another Level.” As a performer\, he has appeared with numerous top jazz musicians. At WestConn\, Nelson teaches jazz trumpet performance\, chamber jazz\, and History of Hip Hop. \nFree and open to the public.

Each week will highlight a different culinary theme\, served at both campuses during dinner. This week is inspired by Caribbean influences: on Monday\, Feb. 24\, enjoy Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas; on Wednesday\, Feb. 26\, savor Curried Chicken with Roti; and on Friday\, Feb. 28\, indulge in Pelau\, Fried Plantains\, and Doubles.
