DESCRIPTION:THROUGH THE LENS OF TRUDE FLEISCHMANN: The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is promoting this event for Jewish American Heritage Month. \nThrough the Lens of Trude Fleischmann (1895-1990) Presentation by Carey Mack Weber\, Fairfield (CT)\, followed by a conversation with Barbara Rosenburg. \nAfter opening her own studio in Vienna at the age of just 25\, Trude Fleischmann (1895-1990) had great success there in the 1920s and 30s photographing artists\, dancers\, actors\, and other key cultural figures of the era. When the Nazis invaded during the Anschluss in 1938\, she fled first to London and then to New York. She opened a studio just behind Carnegie Hall on 56th Street\, in 1940 and photographed many of the artists and intellectuals of the day\, including Eleanor Roosevelt\, Marian Anderson\, and Albert Einstein. \nPresentation by Carey Mack Weber\, Curator and Director\, Fairfield University Art Museum\, followed by a conversation with Fleischmann’s cousin\, Barbara Rosenberg Loss. Introductory remarks by Stephanie Buhmann\, PhD\, Head of Visual Arts\, Architecture and Design at the Austrian Cultural Forum New York. \nThis virtual event is at noon. DESCRIPTION:WALLY’S CUPBOARD: Wally’s Cupboard by SGA is the WestConn campus food pantry created by students for students! At Wally’s Cupboard\, we aim to provide a reliable source of groceries and other supplies to students experiencing food insecurity on a weekly basis. \nWish to utilize our resources? All currently enrolled students are eligible! Just stop by with your active student ID and sign up during our open hours. Registration is valid for the entire semester and you can “shop” our grocery store-style food pantry once per week. We do our best to cater to dietary restrictions and we offer canned goods\, fresh produce\, dairy products\, frozen items\, and more! \nUnsure if you are food insecure? Food insecurity is defined as a state of being where one is unsure where their next meal is coming from. Don’t hesitate to swing by if you are still unsure! Hours are listed below. The Cupboard is in the lower level of the Midtown Student Center. \nIf you would like to donate\, please send an email to sgafoodpantry@wcsu.edu.
