SUMMARY:Commemoration Ceremony: Honoring Medgar Evers (Juneteenth)
DESCRIPTION:COMMEMORATION CEREMONY – HONORING MEDGAR EVERS (JUNETEETH): The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is promoting this event sponsored by the Danbury Juneteenth Coalition. \nThe Danbury Juneteenth Coalition is honored to introduce a meaningful new addition to this year’s Juneteenth program: a Legacy Tribute at the Medgar Evers Tree\, located in the Rose Garden at Rogers Park. This solemn gathering will commemorate the life and legacy of civil rights leader Medgar Evers\, who was assassinated on June 12\, 1963. The tree\, planted by Danbury’s Black community in his memory as part of the city’s very first Juneteenth observance\, stands as a living symbol of resilience and remembrance. A commemorative wreath will be placed at the site and remain through the weekend. We warmly invite the public to join us for this reflective moment of honor and remembrance. \nFrom 6 to 7 p.m. at Rogers Park\, 21 Memorial Drive in Danbury.
