This event will feature a Pop-up Book Shop hosted by Rainy Day Paperback Exchange of Bethel\, offering a curated selection of used books. \nFeatured Student Reader: Sophia Caselnova\nCaselnova is a recent M.F.A. candidate in Creative Nonfiction at Western Connecticut State University focusing on memoir writing\, having recently finished her first collection of work\, titled “The Climb\,” which includes essays\, poems\, and vignettes. Dedicated to the Aquinnah Wampanoag\, the Aquinnah Cultural Center in Massachusetts imparts cultural knowledge\, fosters tribal connection\, and shares their historical narratives and oral traditions. Together\, we’ll explore tribal sovereignty\, the constitutional roots of Indigenous relationships\, and take a look at the belongings and creations of the Aquinnah Wampanoag. \nSpeaking with the National Constitution Center’s team will be Brad Lopes\, an enrolled Aquinnah Wampanoag citizen and the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Aquinnah Cultural Center. Throughout his career as a classroom and public educator Brad has sought to help build understanding about tribal sovereignty and how it relates to civics curricula in the United States. A glossary of terms and discussion question-filled reading guide\, created by the National Museum of the American Latino\, encourages further research and exploration. Fatima holds an MSW and a B.A. in Social Work and Gender\, Women’s\, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Iowa. In her free time\, she enjoys cooking\, reading\, and thrifting.

DESCRIPTION:THE FUNDAMENTALS OF PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP: This complimentary one-day workshop will provide foundational knowledge through targeted education to mayors and their staff on the subject of Public-Private Partnerships (P3s). Private industry experts will explore the possibilities of P3 before discussing your city’s infrastructure challenges\, and any project proposals or ideas you might have. On completion\, participants will earn certification in P3 fundamentals. \nWho should attend: mayors\, deputy mayors\, city managers\, assistant city managers\, chiefs of staff\, department directors\, and city employees involved in public works; community development; economic development; mass transit\, airports and ports; utility water systems; or facilities management. \nThe workshop is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Ballroom on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus\, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.
