This solemn gathering will commemorate the life and legacy of civil rights leader Medgar Evers\, who was assassinated on June 12\, 1963. The tree\, planted by Danbury’s Black community in his memory as part of the city’s very first Juneteenth observance\, stands as a living symbol of resilience and remembrance. A commemorative wreath will be placed at the site and remain through the weekend. There will be live entertainment provided by The Rahsaan Langley Project (TRLP)\, one of Connecticut’s premier R&B bands and this year’s musical headliner\, all day music by D.J. Juan Coon of 94.3 WYBC Radio Station as well as other local artists\, gospel choirs\, dancers and performers incl. returning hip hop artist D.J. Gaines\, a Step Show & Stroll Showcase featuring members of the Divine 9 Fraternities and Sororities\, with more being added. The Danbury Museum will once again sponsor the Juneteenth Exhibit and Walking Tour as featured Cultural & Historical Activities\, with The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut curating an Artists & Artisans Market to provide an artisanal experience for the community and local artists and artisans the opportunity to exhibit their work to its best advantage. DESCRIPTION:FIELD OF FLAGS: The university’s Student Veterans Organization (SVO) will begin to place several thousand American flags in front of the Old Main Building on the Midtown campus. Flag placement will begin at 11 a.m. and the public is invited to join WCSU’s SVO\, Campus Police and members of the Danbury Fire and Police Departments in placing flags. The Field of Flags will remain in place until Wednesday\, Nov. 15.

DESCRIPTION:BERKSHIRE HALL RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY: WCSU will unveil its new Berkshire Hall Student Center at a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10 a.m. The renovated-as-new facility on the Midtown campus features the best in collegiate dining halls\, social spaces\, and will eventually house a new cardio fitness center\, basketball court\, offices and more. \nWCSU Interim President Dr. Manohar Singh will officiate the ceremony to be attended by students\, faculty\, staff\, legislators and representatives from the design and construction team. The public is welcome.
