From 5 to 8 p.m. at the Danbury Green on Main Street in Danbury. There will be a free WestConn shuttle and parking in the Patriot Garage. DESCRIPTION:“EMANCIPATION JUBILATION” – THE THIRD ANNUAL DANBURY JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION: The city’s 3rd annual installation of Danbury Juneteenth will be celebrated from noon to 5 p.m. at the Western Connecticut State University Midtown campus\, 181 White St. in Danbury.\n\nThe Greater Danbury NAACP\, WCSU Racial Justice Coalition and More Community & Faith-based Organizations Proudly Present “Emancipation Jubilation” – the 3rd Annual Danbury Juneteenth Celebration. There will be live entertainment provided by The Rahsaan Langley Project (TRLP)\, one of Connecticut’s premier R&B bands and this year’s musical headliner\, all day music by D.J. Juan Coon of 94.3 WYBC Radio Station as well as other local artists\, gospel choirs\, dancers and performers incl. returning hip hop artist D.J. Gaines\, a Step Show & Stroll Showcase featuring members of the Divine 9 Fraternities and Sororities\, with more being added. The Danbury Museum will once again sponsor the Juneteenth Exhibit and Walking Tour as featured Cultural & Historical Activities\, with The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut curating an Artists & Artisans Market to provide an artisanal experience for the community and local artists and artisans the opportunity to exhibit their work to its best advantage. Across from the main stage will be a Wellness Center & Health Fair providing FREE health care screenings\, Kids Corner with children’s activities (e.g.\, arts & crafts\, ballooning\, book giveaways\, face painting\, storytelling by renowned children’s book authors\, etc.)\, local vendor & resource stations with merchandise for sale as well as educational resources (e.g.\, employment opportunities)\, a variety of food trucks and so much more! Perez’s senior thesis for the Anthropology/Sociology major is an ethnographic study focusing on what makes a quality HSI. She is interviewing students and faculty\, and will be summarizing her findings and personal experiences of the difference that intentional HSI planning and development can make in the lives of Hispanic students. \n3:45 p.m. – Celebration of Puerto Rican faculty\, staff\, students and community members with a performance by Brass City Bomba \n4:15 p.m. – Celebration of Brazilian faculty\, staff\, students and community members with a performance by Benção Capoeira \n4:30 p.m. – Lobo Awards Ceremony\, presented by WCSU Interim President Manohar Singh and Chair of the Department of Social Sciences and Professor of Sociology Dr. Carina Bandhauer.
