SUMMARY:Poor Yorick: Writers' Open Mic
DESCRIPTION:POOR YORICK – WRITERS’ OPEN MIC: Join WCSU’s Department of Creative & Professional Writing Program for a Writers’ Open Mic with Pop-up Book Shop and Featured Reader\, MFA student Maria Zegarelli\, from 3-5 p.m. at The Market at The Meetinghouse\, located at 602 Ridgebury Road in Ridgefield — just a 12-minute drive from the WCSU Westside campus! \nHosted by Poor Yorick\, the program’s literary journal\, this event celebrates both WCSU’s lifelong community of writers and the vibrant literary voices of the Greater Danbury Area. We’re excited to share our program’s long-standing tradition of these open mics with the local community beyond the boundaries of our campus with an evening of storytelling\, poetry\, and prose of every kind at The Market at The Meetinghouse. This event will feature a Pop-up Book Shop hosted by Rainy Day Paperback Exchange of Bethel\, offering a curated selection of used books. \nFeatured Reader: Maria Zegarelli\nMaria Zegarelli is a creative nonfiction writer and MFA candidate expected to graduate this May from Western Connecticut State University. Zegarelli’s personal lifestyle column\, The Youngest of Us\, published in The Town Tribune\, reflects on identity\, nostalgia\, and the mundane everyday moments that make life… life. She traces how personal history follows us forward. \n———————————————————- \nThis event is open to the public! All writers are welcome to read their works* and all readers invited to sit back and enjoy! \n*Please note: Current WCSU MFA students will receive priority for reading opportunities.
