SUMMARY:Ernest and the Pale Moon - Student Previews
DESCRIPTION:**Please note that due to extremely limited seating capacity in the Blackbox theatre\, no latecomers will be allowed in past the show’s start time. Any open seats at the start time of the show will be released to other students so they can see the show instead. \n‘ERNEST AND THE PALE MOON”: \nErnest and the Pale Moon\nby Oliver Lansley\nDirector: Donna Baldwin-Bradby\nInspired by the works of Edgar Allen Poe and Alfred Hitchcock\, Ernest and the Pale Moon is a play written in the style of a noir horror. Ernest is a young man who spends his days watching the beautiful young woman who lives in the apartment block across from him. When he sees her with another man he is thrown into a jealous rage\, which eventually leads to murder. However\, all is not as it seems and slowly Ernest’s guilt sends him spiraling into madness. \nPlease note that audience members must be masked at all times inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center without exception. In addition\, we are enforcing 3 ft. social distancing\, and as such\, seating is extremely limited. Because of the reduced capacity of our theatre\, we are asking all patrons to purchase their ticket in advance here on Eventbrite. Shows are likely to sell out\, so do not wait to purchase at the box office before the show. Tickets are subject to higher charges at the door as opposed to online. There will be no exceptions made to socially distanced seating. \nPlease note that this show has two casts. DESCRIPTION:METAMORPHOSES – STUDENT PREVIEWS (WCSU STUDENTS ONLY: Reserve here for the Student Previews of Metamorphoses at 8 p.m. Open to WCSU Students only. These performances are available to WCSU students only. You will be required to enter your WCSU email address and banner ID number to register. \nMETAMORPHOSES\nBased on the Myths of Ovid\nWritten and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman\nDirector: Sal Trapani \nFirst performed by students at Northwestern University\, where playwright Zimmerman is a professor of performance studies\, this play opened at Broadway’s Circle on the Square Theater in March 2002. Based on Ovid’s transformation myths\, the play subtly mixes the ancient stories of pathos and tragedy with contemporary language\, humor\, and thought. The themes of love\, the inevitability of change\, and the human ability to adapt to change are timeless\, as is amply demonstrated by the sometimes eerie closeness of a vignette to the original lines from Ovid\, which still manage to resonate with modern viewers.
