SUMMARY:Laughter Yoga
DESCRIPTION:LAUGHTER YOGA: Who does not love to laugh? Children laugh all day long — adults not so much. Laughter Yoga was invented in the mid 1990s by Dr. Madan Kataria. Dr. Silvana Coza-Nokovic trained with him to be a laughter yoga therapist and she brings fun and laughter to us here at WestConn. Join us at noon in Room 114 of White Hall on the Midtown campus for 30 minutes of laughter and fun. Laughter improves our blood circulation\, our respiration rate\, and releases endorphins — the “feel good” hormones that counteract the stress hormones. No experience is necessary — just a desire to laugh with friends!

SUMMARY:You Are Grounded!!
DESCRIPTION:YOU ARE GROUNDED!!: Join the Institute for Holistic Health Studies in Berkshire Hall on the Midtown campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and learn about being grounded!! (No\, you do not have to stay in your room — this is about being grounded in Mother Nature!!) Research has shown that spending time in Nature (some call it Vitamin N) has a wealth of health benefits. We know that plants give off oxygen that we need\, but other compounds released by trees\, grasses\, and shrubs have beneficial effects on our bodies\, minds\, and spirits. These chemical compounds\, called phytochemicals\, can help to reduce blood pressure\, reduce stress and anxiety and stimulate and strengthen our immune systems \nIn addition\, simply by taking off our rubber-soled shoes and standing in the grass (or standing in the sand at the beach ) we are able to absorb the ions and energy of the earth — we are grounded in Mother Nature! This earth energy helps to counteract some of the stressors of fluorescent lights and other pollutants of modern-day buildings. Some call this practice “Earthing” or “Grounding” So come and learn about grounding — and get grounded yourself!
