DESCRIPTION:PERIOD JUSTICE MOONBEE: The Period Justice MoonBee is a free event for WCSU students\, staff\, and members of the public to prepare menstrual supply kits for girls and women around the world. No sewing experience necessary! Refreshments will be served; all supplies provided. \nWe will also be screening the short documentary film “Period: End of Sentence” about Indian women fighting the stigma surrounding menstruation and their journey to begin manufacturing sanitary pads. \nFeel free to bring friends and family. DESCRIPTION:“THE FAMILY I HAD\,” DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING AND DIRECTOR Q&A: The Kathwari Honors Program and Dr. Casey Jordan present a screening of The Family I Had\, a documentary film by Katie Green and Carlye Rubin of Smoke & Apple Films\, with a discussion of the film with the directors and Dr. Jordan to follow. This event is free and open to the public at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the Midtown campus. \nSmoke & Apple Films is an all-female filmmaking team who produce feature-length documentaries and short form non-fiction content that parlay powerful storytelling into action. The Family I Had tells the story of intra-family violence and juvenile incarceration through a mother’s unwavering love for her son who killed her daughter. After premiering at Tribeca Film Festival in April 2017\, it won the Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary at Raindance International Film Festival and The Gracie Award for Best Documentary in 2018. What can we learn from them? “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” is a Netflix documentary series that takes members around the world to investigate the diet and lifestyles of those living the longest lives. Explore the original blue zones\, be immersed in their culture and lifestyles\, and see how Blue Zones is applying the research in communities across the United States. \nDiscussion following the viewing will be led by Christel Autuori\, director of the Institute for Holistic Health Studies at Western Connecticut State University.  Christel holds a Master’s degree in Integrative Health and Healing\, is a board certified Health and Wellness Coach\, specializing in Lifestyle Medicine\, and teaches courses in Holistic and Integrative Health and Positive Health and Stress Management. DESCRIPTION:LET’S GO SEE THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE: Hello! It’s us\, the Commuter Student Organization (CSO)! Do you want to see your favorite\, pasta-loving plumbers from Brooklyn\, Mario and Luigi\, on the big screen? Well\, then grab your gold coins\, and lets a go see The Super Mario Bros. Movie together! \nThe cost per ticket is $12\, and there are 40 tickets available for purchase. A bag of popcorn and a drink will be included with your purchase of a ticket. Tickets are available for all WCSU students\, faculty\, alumni\, and their guests to purchase. \nWe will be watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Wednesday\, April 5\, in the AMC 16 theatre\, located at 61 Eagle Rd\, Danbury\, CT. The showtime for the movie starts at 4:45 p.m.\, and the runtime is 1 hour\, and 32 minutes long. The CSO has rented out the entire movie theater for this event. Please meet in the lobby before entering the actual movie theater. \nA raffle will be conducted in the theater before the movie starts. The prize will be a Jakks Pacific Super Mario Bros. Movie 7-inch Fire Breathing Bowser action figure. \nIf you require transportation to the movie theatre\, a 12-passenger van will be available for you to ride in. The van will depart from WCSU’s Midtown Campus Student Center shuttle stop at 3:45 p.m. \nWe are so excited to “plunge” into the magical world of the Mushroom Kingdom with you on this animated adventure!
