SUMMARY:Short Short Story Film Festival*
DESCRIPTION:*AFFILIATED EVENT: 15th ANNUAL SHORT SHORT STORY FILM FESTIVAL AT GREENWOOD FEATURES (BETHEL): The Short Short Story Film Festival celebrates brevity in filmmaking\, featuring films from across the globe\, lovingly harvested by the folks at MergingArts Productions. The competitive international film festival includes both live-action and animated films\, all of which tell a story in under six minutes. The festival will screen films from nearly twenty countries\, culled from hundreds of submissions from around the world. \nAudiences can enjoy two distinct programs\, each in less than the time of a typical feature film. \nThe Heartstrings Program\, which leans more towards live action\, highlights films of a more emotional nature – comedic\, bittersweet\, or (as the name implies) tugging at the heart strings. \nThe Headtrip Program\, which is more evenly split between animation and live action\, presents forays into bizarre or unsettling territory\, including biting satire\, chilling imagery\, and absurdist tales. \nAudiences at each screening will vote for their favorite three films of the program (with over 15 films in each\, it’s not always easy to narrow it down)\, and these votes are later tallied and the winner of each program receives a custom art object award\, created by a winner from a previous edition of the festival. \nThe festival separately has a jury made of interviewees from the MergingArts produced Spoiler Alert Radio syndicated program\, which talks with film professionals in a variety of fields from cinematography to production design to editing to sound design. MergingArts Productions is an organization dedicated to cultural programming encompassing film\, music\, visual arts\, technology and media. \nMore information is available at http://www.mergingarts.org and http://www.spoileralertradio.com. \nTickets are available day of the event at the door and online here. https://www.greenwoodfeatures.com/short-short-story-film-festival

DESCRIPTION:*AFFILIATED EVENT: SCREENING OF “ETERNAL SPRING”: A powerful new animated documentary film about human rights in China will play in select AMC theaters nationwide starting Friday\, Oct. 21. “Eternal Spring” was recently elected as Canada’s entry for the 2023 Oscars Best International Feature Film and is considered a leading contender for the award by Gold Derby. \nIn recent reviews\, National Post describes the film as an “original\, moving tour de force\,” Screen Daily calls it “pulse-pounding\,” Globe and Mail refers to it as “a thrilling\, all-consuming film.” \n“Eternal Spring” is an exhilarating tale of determination to speak up for political and religious freedoms\, no matter the cost. It takes viewers along the journey of artist Daxiong (Star Wars\, Justice League) as religious persecution forces him to flee China after the hijacking of a state-run television signal in 2002 by a banned spiritual group. Told with a combination of stunning animation based on Daxiong’s art and real-life interviews\, the film documents this unprecedented act of defiance. \nFor trailer and showtimes\, please visit: EternalSpringFilm.com.
