Movie together! \nThe cost per ticket is $12\, and there are 40 tickets available for purchase. A bag of popcorn and a drink will be included with your purchase of a ticket. Tickets are available for all WCSU students\, faculty\, alumni\, and their guests to purchase. \nWe will be watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie on Wednesday\, April 5\, in the AMC 16 theatre\, located at 61 Eagle Rd\, Danbury\, CT. The showtime for the movie starts at 4:45 p.m.\, and the runtime is 1 hour\, and 32 minutes long. The CSO has rented out the entire movie theater for this event. Please meet in the lobby before entering the actual movie theater. \nA raffle will be conducted in the theater before the movie starts. The prize will be a Jakks Pacific Super Mario Bros. Movie 7-inch Fire Breathing Bowser action figure. \nIf you require transportation to the movie theatre\, a 12-passenger van will be available for you to ride in. DESCRIPTION:*AFFILIATED EVENT: 15th ANNUAL SHORT SHORT STORY FILM FESTIVAL AT GREENWOOD FEATURES (BETHEL): The Short Short Story Film Festival celebrates brevity in filmmaking\, featuring films from across the globe\, lovingly harvested by the folks at MergingArts Productions. The competitive international film festival includes both live-action and animated films\, all of which tell a story in under six minutes. The festival will screen films from nearly twenty countries\, culled from hundreds of submissions from around the world. \nAudiences can enjoy two distinct programs\, each in less than the time of a typical feature film. \nThe Heartstrings Program\, which leans more towards live action\, highlights films of a more emotional nature – comedic\, bittersweet\, or (as the name implies) tugging at the heart strings. \nThe Headtrip Program\, which is more evenly split between animation and live action\, presents forays into bizarre or unsettling territory\, including biting satire\, chilling imagery\, and absurdist tales. \nAudiences at each screening will vote for their favorite three films of the program (with over 15 films in each\, it’s not always easy to narrow it down)\, and these votes are later tallied and the winner of each program receives a custom art object award\, created by a winner from a previous edition of the festival. \nThe festival separately has a jury made of interviewees from the MergingArts produced Spoiler Alert Radio syndicated program\, which talks with film professionals in a variety of fields from cinematography to production design to editing to sound design. DESCRIPTION:FILM SCREENING & ARTIST TALK WITH ADDRESS: EARTH ARTIST\, ROSALIND SCHNEIDER: As part of the exhibition\, Address: Earth in the Gallery at the Visual & Performing Arts Center\, artist\, and filmmaker Rosalind Schneider will present a screening of her film\, “Pond Reflections\,” and discuss her work from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This event will take place in Choir Room 108 at the Visual & Performing Arts Center. \n“Pond Reflections” is footage collected over three years of seasonal reflections on water as the primal source of creation. Surrounding trees\, rocks\, and landscape trace the cycle of life. Peter Rubin\, a recent graduate of the Berklee School of Music composed the film score and may also participate in the discussion. \nRosalind Schneider creates works that transcend their source to form a new reference to a visionary landscape. She creates layered landscape images with multiple realities that progress from the real into abstraction and a fusion of the two. Her Digital Fusion paintings result from the capture of a video frame as a starting point and are realized through hands-on manipulation. The surfaces are transformed by drawing\, acrylic\, and glass particle collage resulting in a luminous translation that speaks to its moving image origin. Multiple realities are birthed from video. Schneider was the first artist to show the film as an art at the Hirshhorn Museum\, following a solo show of her films at the Whitney Museum. Exhibitions of film\, video\, digital prints\, and paintings include the Bronx Museum of the Arts\, Islip Museum\, Chelsea Museum\, Hudson River Museum\, SculptureCenter\, and MOMA (Carte Blanche: Women Writing the Language of Cinema). Her 16mm films are currently being restored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and will be part of the film archive at the Academy Museum. \nMore of Schneider’s work is on view in the exhibition\, Address: Earth\, from October 13 through December 4\, 2022. The gallery will be open before and after the film screening and during regular gallery hours: Tues-Fri\, noon to 4 p.m.\, and Sat-Sun\, 1 to 4 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:WCSU AGAINST VIOLENCE (WAV): A Dating Abuse Awareness Event in Honor of Alyssiah Wiley \nJoin The Center for Empowerment and Education and the Recreation Department for a kickball tournament\, wellness fair (with free giveaways)\, and documentary showing of Alyssiah Wiley’s story with honorable guest speaker Corrinna Martin. The kickball tournament\, hosted by the Recreation Department\, is for current WCSU students only. From 5 to 9 p.m. on the Westside REC Field. \nKickball Registration \nPrizes for the winning team! \nWestside CC Ballroom (Documentary and Guest Speaker) 7pm \nThe documentary showing will be open to everyone (the entire WCSU community including faculty/staff and to the public). \nTrigger warning: discussions of dating violence and intimate partner homicide.
