DESCRIPTION:CHARLES IVES 150TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION CONCERTS: WCSU is partnering with the Danbury Museum and the Danbury Music Centre in celebrating the 150th birthday of Charles Edward Ives\, Pulitzer Prize winner\, CT State Composer and the Father of American classical composition. Born in Danbury\, he used the sights and sounds of our community to craft his works which eventually led to international recognition. We are thrilled that international\, national and local artists have approached our groups to structure free\, engaging performances in honor of the man\, the legend\, the giant of American composition. This is not a fundraiser\, but a friend raiser\, a celebratory moment in our shared American experience\, and we hope you can be a part of all of this! \nPerformances: \n1. William Harvey — Violinist\, Concertmaster of National Orchestra of Mexico\, Frederic Chiu — Pianist Friday\, Oct. 18\, 7 – 8:30 p.m. \n2. DESCRIPTION:LATIN BLOCK PARTY: Please join Western Connecticut State University’s UndocuAlly Task Force\, Western Beyond Borders\, Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion\, Pre-Collegiate Programs\, Admissions\, SGA\, LASO\, Social Sciences Department and Admissions; CityCenter Danbury; Connecticut Students for a Dream; Ecuadorian Civic Center of Greater Danbury; and Dominican Community Center for a Latin Block Party to celebrate the Latin community and raise funds for the university’s UndocuAlly Scholarship\, which funds students who are undocumented community members or who come from mixed status families. From 5 to 8 p.m. at the Danbury Green on Main Street in Danbury. There will be a free WestConn shuttle and parking in the Patriot Garage. The event will include live music and dancing\, a 360 photo booth\, a raffle for gift cards and WestConn swag\, food trucks\, and free food vouchers for students.
