DESCRIPTION:PERIOD JUSTICE MOONBEE: The Period Justice MoonBee is a free event for WCSU students\, staff\, and members of the public to prepare menstrual supply kits for girls and women around the world. No sewing experience necessary! Refreshments will be served; all supplies provided. \nWe will also be screening the short documentary film “Period: End of Sentence” about Indian women fighting the stigma surrounding menstruation and their journey to begin manufacturing sanitary pads. \nFeel free to bring friends and family. RSVP requested at https://forms.office.com/r/rTCcHZr2Tp but not required. First six (6) students to RSVP and attend will receive a reusable menstrual cup\, courtesy of the WCSU Health Services. We also encourage you to bring disposable menstrual supplies to donate to the WCSU period pantry. \nQuestions? We’re excited to share our program’s long-standing tradition of these open mics with the local community beyond the boundaries of our campus with an evening of storytelling\, poetry\, and prose of every kind at The Market at The Meetinghouse. This event will feature a Pop-up Book Shop hosted by Rainy Day Paperback Exchange of Bethel\, offering a curated selection of used books. \nFeatured Reader: Maria Zegarelli\nMaria Zegarelli is a creative nonfiction writer and MFA candidate expected to graduate this May from Western Connecticut State University. Zegarelli’s personal lifestyle column\, The Youngest of Us\, published in The Town Tribune\, reflects on identity\, nostalgia\, and the mundane everyday moments that make life… life.
