DESCRIPTION:WCSU DAY OF SERVICE: All students\, faculty\, and staff are encouraged to participate in this Day of Service in Danbury and the Greater Danbury community. For more details go to the Day of Service webpage.  \nThere will be no morning classes so everyone can participate in Day of Service. Afternoon classes will resume at 1 p.m. \nAn email will be sent once we have the sites set up and open registration. In the meantime if you are interested in volunteering as a Group Leader please let us know. Send us an email to dayofservice@wcsu.edu. We will have jobs for volunteers activities across the Greater Danbury Area.  These activities will range from outdoor or indoor activities like gardening\, painting\, picking up litter\, raking\, cleaning\, or clearing trails to name a few. \nPlease note that if you are under the age of 18 we would need permission from your parent to participate. Your parent could send a short email to diazv@wcsu.edu just stating your name\, their relationship to you and that they give permission for you to participate in WCSU Day of Service.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR JERMAR ROUNTREE: Please join WCSU Interim President Dr. Paul Beran as WCSU alumnus Jermar Rountree will be on campus to speak with us from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in White Hall\, Room 127\, Midtown campus. \nJermar Rountree graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in History and began working at the Grassy Plain YMCA in nearby Bethel — first as a teacher\, then as the Physical Education Director\, and ultimately as the Assistant Director of the entire program. He also began a 10-year journey to obtain a master’s degree in Early Education. In 2012\, Rountree took a job at D.C. Prep Public Charter School in Northeast Washington alongside McDermott\, before joining Center City Public Charter School in 2016. Last year\, Washington\, D.C.
