Reserve tickets at www.eventbrite.com/e/visiting-artist-lecture-glenn-goldberg-painter-tickets-1980476598820 \nGlenn Goldberg is a NYC artist and musician who was born in Bronx\, New York. He studied at the New York Studio School and earned his B.A. and M.F.A. degrees from Queens College\, CUNY. He has taught at Cooper Union\, New York Studio School\, and Queens College\, where he was Professor and Chair of Graduate Studio Art. He also has been a panelist and visiting artist for numerous M.F.A. painting programs in the U.S. In June of this summer\, he will teach at Umbria Contemporary Arts in Italy\, a new art center and school in the medieval village of Monte Castello di Vibio. \nA recipient of many awards\, Goldberg has received grants from the Edward Albee Foundation\, the Guggenheim Foundation\, the Joan Mitchell Foundation\, Sharpe-Walentas\, Urban Glass\, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work has been reviewed in The New York Times\, LA Times\, New Yorker\, and Chicago Tribune\, among others. In “Hyperallergic\,” art historian Jennifer Samet described his paintings as “ethereal\,” as a “meeting point of the ordinary and the other.” \nGoldberg is a member of The National Academy of Design and is currently represented by Chris Sharp in Los Angeles and The Approach in London. He has shown extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe\, with work in many museum collections\, including: the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Guggenheim Museum; the Brooklyn Museum; the National Gallery of Art; and the Museum of Contemporary Art\, Los Angeles.

Laura Leonard is the Art Bridges Project Coordinator and Curatorial Researcher at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford\, where she oversees a series of American art exhibitions created through a multi-year\, multi-institutional partnership led by the Wadsworth as a part of the Art Bridges Cohort Program. Her most recent projects were co-curating “(Un)Settled: The Landscape in American Art” and authoring the accompanying booklet\, as well as curating “Peter Waite: Social Memory: Paintings 1987–2025” and co-authoring\nthe exhibition catalogue.

DESCRIPTION:ANGÉLICA MARIA (LATINX STORYTELLER): Angélica María is an internationally touring Chicana poet & musician originally from Los Angeles. Her work focuses on blending literary and musical landscapes to heal intergenerational wounds and reclaiming ancestral feminine power. This work has brought her across the country as a Tedx speaker\, and as a finalist for the National Poetry Slam 2018. \nHer work has been featured in the L.A Times\, The Breakbeat Poets Anthology: LatiNEXT (2020) on Haymarket Books and Puma. She has been invited to bring poetic and musical presentations to countless universities across the U.S including Harvard University and Yale University\, amongst others. Wearing multiple hats as a producer\, writer and composer\, her music is a healing modality\, combining a poetic lyrical style\, storytelling and smooth soundscape to create a powerful listening experience. \nThis dynamic offering merges keynote storytelling with live spoken word and original poetry performance that speaks on themes of culture\, identity\, and empowerment. DESCRIPTION:INCLUSIVE SCHOOL SAFETY PRACTICES FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES – PROFESSIONAL EVENT: The Connecticut Center for School Safety and Crisis Preparation at Western Connecticut State University\, in collaboration with Southern Connecticut State University\, will present a statewide professional event focused on advancing safe\, inclusive practices for students with disabilities. \nThis free\, full-day event brings together educators\, school mental health providers\, school resource officers\, disability advocates\, families\, and community partners to explore evidence-based strategies that promote student safety while honoring accessibility\, dignity\, and equity.
