The event is organized by the National First Ladies’ Library & Museum. \nStep back in time to explore the unique stories of the women of the Manhattan Project\, including the Calutron Girls\, who worked in the “Secret City” of Oak Ridge\, Tennessee\, with no knowledge of the impact they would have on World War II. This Women’s History Month program will shine a spotlight on these women’s contributions\, complemented by insights into First Ladies Eleanor Roosevelt and Bess Truman\, who helped guide the nation during this pivotal era. Participants will receive exclusive recipes from the wartime Oak Ridge cookbook Cooking Behind The Fence and a few favorites from the First Ladies of the 1940s. \nSarah Morgan\, a historian with a passion for culinary history\, will lead this engaging event. Known for her “Cooking with the First Ladies” content\, Sarah brings history to life through the dishes of America’s past. DESCRIPTION:THE 19TH AMENDMENT – HOW WOMEN WON THE VOTE: The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is sponsoring this event from National Constitution Center. \nJoin the National Constitution Center for a live guided tour of our exhibit\, The 19th Amendment: How Women Won the Vote\, which traces the triumphs and struggles that led to the ratification of the 19th Amendment. The tour will help students to better understand the long fight for women’s suffrage\, and highlight some of the many women who transformed constitutional history — including Elizabeth Cady Stanton\, Alice Paul\, and Ida B. Wells. Students will also get an up-close look at some of the one-of-a-kind artifacts on display\, including a rare printing of the Declaration of Sentiments from the nation’s first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls\, a ballot box used to collect women’s votes in the late 1800s\, Pennsylvania’s ratification copy of the 19th Amendment\, as well as “Votes for Women” ephemera. \nThis virtual event will be at noon.
