SUMMARY:The Future Isn't What it Used to Be: Green Hydrogen
DESCRIPTION:THE FUTURE ISN’T WHAT IT USED TO BE: How do we implement Green Hydrogen and Fusion energies?  \nHuman civilization needs a reliable supply energy. When (if?) the brakes are put on fossil carbon\, we will need a variety of replacements. Some post-carbon sources are well known (solar\, wind\, hydro) while others are not.  We will learn that some solutions supply energy\, while others conserve it.  A note of caution from Mitch himself\, “The speaker is an ecologist\, not an engineer or city planner. Therefore\, definitive solutions are unlikely to be proposed. Many ideas will be discussed\, however\, and I hope that the audience will contribute some good ones.” \nThe C.H. Booth Library in Newtown will welcome Dr. Mitch Wagener\, Climate Change Educator\, WCSU Professor of Biology\, as part of its efforts to bring the 2023 UN Climate Conference in the United Arab Emirates\, Dubai  Nov. 30 – Dec. 12 to the attention of its patrons. \n\n\nDate:\nThursday Jul 13\, 2023\n\nTime:\n7  –  8:30 p.m.\n\nLocation: THIS IS A VIRTUAL EVENT\nC.H. Peaceful Community Building: Build a community that serves to bring peace and healing to all of humanity through meditation and prayer.\n2. Anxiety & Stress Relief: Learn and practice a variety of meditation techniques that help to reduce stress and promote relaxation.\n3. Meditation Myth-Busters: Debunk common misconceptions regarding the practice of meditation\, and break through conditional barriers to enhance meditation practice.\n4. Nurturing Growth: Create an environment that inspires personal and spiritual healing and development. \nIt is recommended that attendees come with personal-related\, community-related\, or global-related things that they would like to send healing and peace to. \nThis group understands that everyone is at different stages along his/her personal and spiritual growth and healing processes. As such\, participants are reminded to help create a peaceful and accepting environment that nurtures all people and the many stages of growth\, learning\, and healing.  \nEmbody compassion\, love\, kindness\, non-judgement\, respect\, and patience\, with yourself and others. \nThis virtual event is hosted by Natalie Nevola\, undergraduate student and Reiki Practitioner. \nJoin Zoom Meeting for Meditation Circle for World Peace and Healing at \nTopic: Meditation Circle\nTime: This is a recurring meeting on the third Saturday of every month @ 7:00 PM EST – 7:30 PM EST until December 17th\, 2022. \nJoin Zoom Meeting \nhttps://us05web.zoom.us/j/4819668061?pwd=UExEUlNnS3F1WlVwdExFemhCdERQZz09 \nMeeting ID: 481 966 8061\nPasscode: 6j3gkx \nOpen to WCSU students\, faculty\, staff and their families and friends. \nContact Information \nEmail: natalierose144@gmail.com\, or nevola002@wcsu.edu \n

SUMMARY:Biology Department Research Seminar Series
DESCRIPTION:BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT RESEARCH SEMINAR SERIES: Virtual Research Seminar: “Farm Like Bacteria Protect WI Children from Eczema and Wheezing.” Prevalence of respiratory illnesses has increased with urbanization\, but growing up on traditional farms offers protection even today. Protective effects of farming environment appears to be associated with richer house dust microbiota\, which have been proposed to be used as a health-promoting indoor microbiome. Here\, we show by training machine learning that model the differences in house dust microbiota composition between traditionally agrarian\, farm and non-farm homes of a Wisconsin birth cohort that children who grow up in non-farm homes are more likely to be protected against wheezing and eczema as their bacterial microbiota composition is more similar to that of farm and traditionally agrarian homes. SUMMARY:Meditation Circle
DESCRIPTION:MEDITATION CIRCLE FOR WORLD PEACE AND HEALING – CONNECT WITH A PURPOSE: An event occurring on the third Saturday of every month from 7-8 p.m. \nThe disconnection that we feel with the world around us can be healed as we deepen the connection with ourselves. Unite in harmony to balance the body\, mind\, heart and spirit through meditation and prayer. Connect to yourself with a purpose\, and create what you individually need to achieve wholeness within. Allow this state of wholeness to be an opportunity for self-healing and the healing of others. \nAs the healing light enters into ourselves\, we are able to graciously channel it in a way that brings healing to all things across the Earth. \nWhat to expect from this mediation circle? \n1.
