DESCRIPTION:NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: New student orientation will be on Tuesday and Wednesday\, June 17 and 18\, from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. For more information\, visit https://www.wcsu.edu/orientation/. \nNew Student Orientation is a required overnight experience for all incoming first year students. We want you to be as ready as possible for the start of your college experience\, so we have planned an exciting and fun orientation program where you will meet new Wolves\, learn about student support services\, meet faculty and staff\, spend the night living in a residence hall\, and learn about the college experience through the eyes of our very own students who will be your Orientation Leaders. \nDuring orientation\, you will be able to pick up your student ID card\, learn how to access your schedule through BannerWeb\, learn about student clubs and leadership opportunities\, shop for your Wolves swag in the WCSU Bookstore\, and much more! \nWe are looking forward to having you on campus and helping you get started on the right track! \n

DESCRIPTION:THE ORIGINS AND LEGACY OF JUNETEENTH WITH DR. TERRY ANNE SCOTT: The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is promoting this virtual event. \nJoin Institute for Common Power Director Dr. Terry Anne Scott as she examines the history of Juneteenth and discusses its legacy from 8 to 9 p.m. \nDr. Terry Anne Scott is an award-winning historian\, author\, and speaker. She is the Director of the Institute for Common Power\, an educational 501(c)3 branch of Common Power that catalyzes people to action through experiential learning opportunities such as workshops\, lectures\, courses\, learning tours\, national educational events. Dr. Scott is a former Professor of African American History and Chair of the Department of History at Hood College. She has also taught at the University of Washington and the University of Maryland. Dr. Scott is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Sports History and a member of the Editorial Staff for the Journal of American History. She is the author of several books\, including Lynching and Leisure: Race and the Transformation of Mob Violence in Texas (winner of the 2022 Ottis Lock Endowment Best Book Award) and the forthcoming From Bed-Stuy to the Hall of Fame: The Unexpected Life of Lenny Wilkens. She is also the editor of Seattle Sports: Play\, Identity\, and Pursuit in the Emerald City. Dr. Scott appears in several critically acclaimed documentaries\, including “Lynching Postcards: Token of a Great Day\,” which won a 2022 NAACP Image Award and was short-listed for an Academy Award.
