DESCRIPTION:LEGACY LECTURE – ELIZABETH PACKARD\, THE WOMEN WHO WOULD NOT BE SILENCED: The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is promoting this virtual event entitled Legacy Lecture: Elizabeth Packard: The Woman Who Would Not Be Silenced. The event is organized by the National First Ladies’ Library & Museum. \nThis Women’s History Month\, join us for a powerful Legacy Lecture featuring historian and performer Laura Keyes as she embodies Elizabeth Packard\, a fierce advocate for women’s rights and mental health reform. \nIn 1860\, Packard was unjustly committed to an asylum by her husband\, a situation legally permitted at the time\, and she endured three years of confinement. Despite these harrowing circumstances\, Elizabeth Packard secured her release and launched a groundbreaking campaign for legal reform to protect married women from similar injustices. \nLaura Keyes brings Elizabeth’s courage and passion to life in this unique\, immersive presentation\, capturing the spirit of a woman who fought tirelessly for justice. \nFrom noon to 1 p.m. Register at www.eventbrite.com/e/legacy-lecture-elizabeth-packard-the-woman-who-would-not-be-silenced-tickets-1070698410769?aff=erelpanelorg

SUMMARY:"A JOURNEY" Musical One-Woman Show by Kimberly Wilson
DESCRIPTION:“A JOURNEY” MUSICAL ONE-WOMAN SHOW BY KIMBERLY WILSON: “A JOURNEY” Musical One-Woman Show brings to life seven historical women\, seven pivotal generations\, who present to you their stories through song\, movement\, and dialogue and how ultimately their faith\, hope and calling help shape the America we know today. \nJoyful celebrations and painful reflections are rendered artistically to tell a story of persistence and courage and how womanhood\, not always intricately woven into the tapestry of American history\, is the thread that holds together the fabric of American life. Included in this journey are reflections from an African Queen\, Harriet Tubman\, Sojourner Truth\, Rosa Parks\, and more. \nAfter the performance\, we invite the audience to remain for a talk-back which extends the wealth of this theatrical experience. People are welcome opportunities to share their feedback and share their stories\, too. \nAs we celebrate these historical women’s stories and their journeys\, let us also celebrate our own journeys. We must tell our stories and be avid\, respectful listeners to the stories of others. We must live\, love and treasure each other\, for this is OUR JOURNEY. \n“A JOURNEY” Musical One-Woman Show\, is from 6 to 8 p.m. in Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the Midtown campus \nRegister to attend at https://wcsutickets.regfox.com/ajourney-musical-one-woman-show-kimberly-wilson
