Dr. Marcia Chatelain is the Penn Presidential Compact Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Franchise: The Golden Arches in Black America\, which examines the intersection of the post-1968 civil rights struggle and the rise of the fast food industry. Register to attend at www.eventbrite.com/e/visiting-artist-lecture-fritz-horstman-interdisciplinary-artist-tickets-1980209242149 \nFritz Horstman is an artist\, curator\, and educator based in Bethany\, Connecticut\, where he is also Education Director at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. He received his B.A. from Kenyon College and his M.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art. His work has been shown throughout the U.S. and in Germany\, Norway\, Russia\, and France. \nRecent solo exhibitions of his sculptures\, videos\, performances\, and works on paper have been held at the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain; at Municipal Bonds gallery in San Francisco; at Planthouse gallery in Manhattan; and at Jennifer Terzian Gallery in Litchfield. An exhibition of his Folded Palladiums will open at Municipal Bonds in March 2026. Recent awards and artist-in-residencies include Tusen Takk\, The Arctic Circle Residency\, and The Bauhaus Residency. \nHorstman has curated exhibitions across Europe and the U.S.\, including “Anni Albers: In Thread and On Paper\,” a traveling show most recently at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin\, Texas. He also curated “Becoming Trees” at Concord Art in Concord\, Massachusetts. As Education Director at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation\, he is the author of “Interacting with Color: A Practical Guide to Josef Albers’s Color Experiments\,” published by Yale University Press in 2024. He has lectured and given workshops at l’École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris; Lebanese American University in Beirut; The Royal Academy of Art in London; MoMA\, Yale University\, Princeton University\, and many other institutions.

DESCRIPTION:A CEDAR JOURNEY MUSICAL BENEFIT: The Lebanon American Club of Danbury and Middle Eastern Dance Academy of West Haven are once again co-hosting the a Musical Benefit at Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the Midtown campus. The MDA dance troupe will be joined by Peter\, Paul\, John and Mary Band of West Nyack\, New York\, and several local and regional artists. It is expected to be a variety music and dance program depicting a family struggle with the decision on leaving everything behind in their home country and immigrating to America. Save the date for Saturday\, Feb. 21\, at 7:30 p.m. (with a snow date of Sunday\, Feb. 22\, at 2 p.m.) This is a wonderful opportunity to support local and regional artists and the Lebanon American Club\, which helped put on the first Musical Benefit for emergency relief of the Lebanon Red Cross last January.
