SUMMARY:Promoting Peace Within 2.0
DESCRIPTION:PROMOTING PEACE WITHIN 2.0:  The Institute for Holistic Health Studies\, along with the Office of Diversity\, Inclusion\, & Equality and the International Student Exchange program\, will present “Promoting Peace Within 2.0\,” an event that celebrates our common pursuit of tranquility in our hearts\, minds\, and spirits. Individually and/or in groups\, we all seek serenity and calm in our hearts while living in this hectic and unpredictable world.  We come from different cultures or traditions with their own practices or modalities to create inner stillness\, but we all seek the same inner peace. \nPromoting Peace Within 2.0 is a gathering of campus organizations\, each sharing cultural traditions and practices for creating stillness within. We will share our techniques and traditions and celebrate our connections to one another — our community.   Light refreshments will be served.  This event will be held in the Haas Library on the Midtown campus  from 4 – 5:30 p.m. \nCome and share your traditions and practices with us and discover that we all journey to the same destination — we just take different paths to get there. \nAll  are welcome. SUMMARY:Machinal
DESCRIPTION:MACHINAL: By Sophie Treadwell\, directed by Annie G. Levy. Presented in the MainStage Theatre at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Westside campus. \nPerformance times: \nFriday\, Nov. 21\, 8 p.m.\nSaturday\, Nov. 22\, 2 p.m.\nSaturday\, Nov. 22\, 8 p.m.\nSunday\, Nov. 23\, 2 p.m. \nClick here to learn more about the production and to select other performance dates/times. \n  \nShe is a cog in a machine she did not build. This visceral\, physical production explores the collapse of a soul forced to submit to the grinding pressures of labor\, gender\, and social expectation. Inspired by the 1928 true crime case of Ruth Snyder and told with the cold precision of an assembly line\, Machinal asks: what happens when the need to get free outweighs the unthinkable cost? \nAccessible seating is available in limited quantity\, please email Eric Gomez\, VPAC Events Coordinator at gomeze@wcsu.edu to inquire about accessible seating. You may also call the box office at (203) 837-3266. \nWCSU student tickets are $10.00 and are available for purchase at the VPAC box office. \nNo refunds are permitted; all sales are final.
