DESCRIPTION:NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: New student orientation will be on Wednesday and Thursday\, June 17 and 18\, from 7:30 a.m. Wednesday until 3:30 p.m. Thursday. For more information\, visit https://www.wcsu.edu/orientation/. \nNew Student Orientation is a required overnight experience for all incoming first-year students. We want you to be as ready as possible for the start of your college experience\, so we have planned an exciting and fun orientation program where you will meet new Wolves\, learn about student support services\, meet faculty and staff\, spend the night living in a residence hall\, and learn about the college experience through the eyes of our very own students who will be your Orientation Leaders. \nPlease be sure to set up your Student Account and upload your photo ID before you arrive\, so we have enough time to review and print your ID Card to give to you at checkout! \n\nDay 1 \n\nCheck in between 7:30 – 8:55 a.m. in Newbury Hall (Continental breakfast will be available in Higgins Hall after check-in).\nMorning activities include meeting other new students and orientation leaders\, hearing from university leaders\, and meeting university staff. \nActivities for the day will include learning about how to join a club and get involved on campus as well as our recreation\, club sports and intramurals programs. You will be able to join in on some fun\, too!. \nAfter lunch\, athletes and their parents will meet regarding important information regarding athletics.  Another afternoon opportunity will be  engaging with our incredible student support services staff and visit important resources and offices that you will utilize throughout your college career. You will also attend sessions pertaining to university advisement\, technology\, student ID’s\, as well as enjoy some evening live entertainment. \nEvening activities include more fun and games\, and experiencing residential life. \nDay 2 \nMorning activities will include breakfast\, then some Title IX information and learning about your academic programs while meeting faculty and staff. \nAfternoon activities include touring our beautiful Westside campus and learning about athletics\, Visual and Performing arts\, designing your life\, as well as other campus centers. \nAfter the closing ceremony\, you will be bussed back to the Midtown campus and you will check out of Newbury Hall from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. This is where you will be able to pick up your ID Card (only if you submitted a photo online or in person on Day 1)\, and then you will be able to shop at the bookstore\, or visit other offices if they are open. \nRegister at www.wcsu.edu/orientation/schedule/ \nMeals\, water\, and snacks will be provided throughout the day. \n\n * Schedule subject to change.   \n\nPlease park in the Midtown campus\, White Street Garage\, and follow the signs to check in. \n

DESCRIPTION:DANBURY JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION 2026: Juneteenth\, celebrated each year on June 19\, commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston\, Texas\, learned they were finally free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is the oldest nationally celebrated observance of the end of slavery in the United States and is now recognized as Juneteenth National Independence Day\, a federal holiday honoring freedom\, resilience\, and African American history. \nThe Danbury Juneteenth Coalition is a collaborative\, volunteer‑driven group of local organizations\, community leaders\, and residents dedicated to honoring this important history and celebrating Black culture in Danbury. The Coalition has organized Juneteenth celebrations for several years\, bringing together partners including WCSU affiliates\, CityCenter Danbury\, the Greater Danbury NAACP\, Salt & Light Ministries\, and the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut. \nOur mission is simple: Create a welcoming\, community‑centered celebration that educates\, uplifts\, and unites. \nWe’re proud to continue this tradition in partnership with CityCenter Danbury for 2026. DESCRIPTION:NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION: New student orientation will be on Monday and Tuesday\, June 29 and 30\, from 7:30 a.m. Monday until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. For more information\, visit https://www.wcsu.edu/orientation/. \nNew Student Orientation is a required overnight experience for all incoming first-year students. We want you to be as ready as possible for the start of your college experience\, so we have planned an exciting and fun orientation program where you will meet new Wolves\, learn about student support services\, meet faculty and staff\, spend the night living in a residence hall\, and learn about the college experience through the eyes of our very own students who will be your Orientation Leaders. \nPlease be sure to set up your Student Account and upload your photo ID before you arrive\, so we have enough time to review and print your ID Card to give to you at checkout! \n\nDay 1 \n\nCheck in between 7:30 – 8:55 a.m. in Newbury Hall (Continental breakfast will be available in Higgins Hall after check-in).\nMorning activities include meeting other new students and orientation leaders\, hearing from university leaders\, and meeting university staff. \nActivities for the day will include learning about how to join a club and get involved on campus as well as our recreation\, club sports and intramurals programs. You will be able to join in on some fun\, too!. \nAfter lunch\, athletes and their parents will meet regarding important information regarding athletics.  Another afternoon opportunity will be  engaging with our incredible student support services staff and visit important resources and offices that you will utilize throughout your college career. You will also attend sessions pertaining to university advisement\, technology\, student ID’s\, as well as enjoy some evening live entertainment. \nEvening activities include more fun and games\, and experiencing residential life. \nDay 2 \nMorning activities will include breakfast\, then some Title IX information and learning about your academic programs while meeting faculty and staff. \nAfternoon activities include touring our beautiful Westside campus and learning about athletics\, Visual and Performing arts\, designing your life\, as well as other campus centers. \nAfter the closing ceremony\, you will be bussed back to the Midtown campus and you will check out of Newbury Hall from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. This is where you will be able to pick up your ID Card (only if you submitted a photo online or in person on Day 1)\, and then you will be able to shop at the bookstore\, or visit other offices if they are open. \nRegister at www.wcsu.edu/orientation/schedule/ \nMeals\, water\, and snacks will be provided throughout the day. \n\n * Schedule subject to change.   \n\nPlease park in the Midtown campus\, White Street Garage\, and follow the signs to check in. \n
