Meet organizations that serve babies and families with young children to set your little ones up for childhood success. New parents can expect prenatal and postpartum health resources\, breastfeeding information\, childhood success techniques and tips\, meet other new parents in the community\, and door prizes! \nAll are welcome to attend and meet our partners. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Danbury Public Library. We have a Dads Read Storytime at 11:30 a.m. for big siblings. The first 50 registrants will receive an early literacy tote bag from the Friends of the Danbury Library. (Bags are for babies ages 0 – 18 months.) DESCRIPTION:DANBURY STREET FESTIVAL: Celebrating its 35th anniversary\, on Saturday\, June 3\, from noon to 6 p.m.\, CityCenter Danbury will once again turn Main Street into a pedestrian-only festival for a day. CityCenter is highlighting the arts and innovation that are core components in the revitalization efforts in downtown Danbury. Over 70 artists and vendors will line the roadway that day between White Street and West Street. \nAt least seven food trucks\, including Latin flavors with Artisans\, El Taco Loco\, BBQ’s best Dish It Right Here\, Twins BBQ\, unique cuisine from Pink Elephant\, hot dog extraordinaire Weenie Lynn’s and many more!!! Beer and wine provided by TAPVILLE Mobile Taproom will be available in the outdoor “Bar-do Garden” alcove located at the Bardo Walkway\, highlighting many local breweries. \nThree live performance stages will host more than 20 different groups and performance artists\, featuring several musicians and a variety of dance troupes from multiple cultural organizations. DESCRIPTION:2023 MFA THESIS EXHIBITION AT BLUE MOUNTAIN GALLERY:  \nAll are welcome to attend the Opening Reception on Thursday\, June 22\, from 5 – 8 p.m. \nThe Exhibition will be on view from June 20–July 8\, 2023.\nGallery hours are Tuesday–Saturday\, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.\, located at 547 West 27 Street\, Suite 200\, New York\, NY. \nThe MFA Thesis Exhibition is the summation of two years of intensive\, creative study and extensive interaction with resident faculty and visiting artists for students of WCSU’s Department of Art’s Graduate Program. This exhibition is supported by the Jason and Ellen Hancock Student Endowment Fund at Western Connecticut State University. \nThe Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts is the preferred degree for the practicing artist who is preparing for a professional career in the visual arts. MFA degrees are available in painting\, illustration and interdisciplinary visual art. The MFA Thesis Exhibition is the capstone experience of the graduate program\, demonstrating a personal direction and mastery in the work of the artists. Four MFA graduates will present their thesis work this year: Dan Baker\, Marcus Escribano\, Lilah Heyman and Aimee Jette.

SUMMARY:Arts Technology Workshops
DESCRIPTION:SUMMER 2023 ARTS TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS: The Summer 2023 Arts Technology Workshops are open to all rising high school freshman through seniors who are interested in arts technology. \nThe arts industries are rapidly evolving; implementing new technologies and softwares that are changing the landscape of what it means to be an artist and technician. This two-day\, educational experience offers students the opportunity to learn cutting edge arts technology that will expose them to new means of creation\, and open doors to new pathways in the arts. The Arts Workshops begin at an introductory level and equips students with a unique and advanced skillset in their area. In addition to learning skills in the various forms of arts technology\, students will also get a real look at what it’s like to be a college student in the visual and performing arts. \nWCSU will provide all technology needed. The only thing the participant needs to bring is their smartphone (and charger!). Lunch will be provided on both days of the workshops. There is a $35.00 registration fee. Registration opens March 15. There are a limited number of spots available for each workshop. \nAll workshops take place in the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University\, located at 43 Lake Avenue Extension\, Danbury\, CT. This stunning\, new facility offers top-of-the-line arts technology\, with equipment and software outmatching most professional arts venues. \n\nAbout the Workshops\nThe student may select one of the three workshops to participate in during the weekend. \nMusic Production – SOLD OUT\nStudents will be introduced to professional-level software\, hardware\, and production techniques to use in the creation of their own original music. Students will work with skilled instructors in the Recording Studio\, Music Technology Lab\, and suite of Audio Production Practice Rooms. Following brief exposition modules on audio fundamentals\, sound design\, composition\, and software use\, students will have the opportunity to produce original music using our state-of-the-art technologies and audio resources. \nStop Motion\nStudents will be introduced to stop-motion animation through historical reviews\, scene photography and building of their own zoetrope\, one of the earliest forms of stop-motion animation. Using available software the zoetrope photos will be compiled into a final movie form. \nTheatre Stage & Sound Technology\nExplore scenic and sound design for theatrical productions using industry standard software including Vectorworks\, Sketch Up and Qlab.  Students will create a visual and aural landscape from scratch and explore how scenery and sound work together to create the environment of a theatre production. \n\nSchedule\nEach day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided from noon to 1:00 PM. SUMMARY:Womanimation! Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:WOMANIMATION! 2023 FILM FESTIVAL: Womanimation! visits Greenwood Features on Saturday\, July 8\, presented by MergingArts Productions\, allowing animation aficionados the chance to sample some of the world’s best animated short film stories\, culled from hundreds of submissions from women around the globe. It features a select program of 12 short films from nine countries\, all of which are U.S. or international premieres. \nIn roughly the length of a typical 90-minute feature film\, the festival entertains and challenges the audience\, with visual styles from stop motion to computer animation to traditional hand drawn. The focus is on independent animators and studios\, and the material is not for younger children\, with the subjects being more challenging than what you see in mainstream animation. Festival organizers will be on hand throughout the day\, with each screening kicking off with a slideshow with music introducing the filmmakers. \nAudiences at each screening will vote for their favorite three films of the program\, with the top overall vote-getter receiving a custom art object award\, created by a winner from a previous edition of the festival. In a new twist for this year’s event\, a special jury has been assembled consisting of women musicians who have topped the charts over the past year on MergingArts global radio programs (https://tinyurl.com/MACharts). The jury will review and rate the films\, with the winner also receiving a custom art award from a previous winner. \nYou can buy tickets at the door or ahead of time for festival screenings at 1\, 4 and 8 p.m.  At 6 p.m.\, we’ll have a reception DJ Madame B spinning music created by women across the globe\, along with special female-fronted karaoke selections for the bold among us. \nIn collaboration with Pink Boots Society (https://www.pinkbootssociety.org)\, who will be on hand for the reception as well\, we will premiere the special Citrus Got Real Wheat Ale from Reverie Brewing Company. \nMore information is available at http://www.mergingarts.org and https://www.mergingartsproductions.com/Events/Womanimation/Main.aspx.

There is a $35.00 registration fee. Registration opens March 15. There are a limited number of spots available for each workshop. \nAll workshops take place in the Visual and Performing Arts Center at Western Connecticut State University\, located at 43 Lake Avenue Extension\, Danbury\, CT. This stunning\, new facility offers top-of-the-line arts technology\, with equipment and software outmatching most professional arts venues. \n\nAbout the Workshops\nThe student may select one of the three workshops to participate in during the weekend. \nMusic Production – SOLD OUT\nStudents will be introduced to professional-level software\, hardware\, and production techniques to use in the creation of their own original music. Students will work with skilled instructors in the Recording Studio\, Music Technology Lab\, and suite of Audio Production Practice Rooms. Following brief exposition modules on audio fundamentals\, sound design\, composition\, and software use\, students will have the opportunity to produce original music using our state-of-the-art technologies and audio resources. \nStop Motion\nStudents will be introduced to stop-motion animation through historical reviews\, scene photography and building of their own zoetrope\, one of the earliest forms of stop-motion animation. Using available software the zoetrope photos will be compiled into a final movie form. \nTheatre Stage & Sound Technology\nExplore scenic and sound design for theatrical productions using industry standard software including Vectorworks\, Sketch Up and Qlab.  Students will create a visual and aural landscape from scratch and explore how scenery and sound work together to create the environment of a theatre production. \n\nSchedule\nEach day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:45 p.m. Lunch will be provided from noon to 1:00 PM.
