DESCRIPTION:BEST DARN JAZZ CLUB: We are excited to announce our upcoming Best Darn Jazz Club in Danbury (BDJC) which will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Wolves Den in the lower level of the Midtown Student Center. The BDJC is always free to our students\, faculty\, staff and alumni. It Is also open to the general public so anyone can invite family and friends. There is no cost to anyone not from WCSU although donations are welcome. There are light snacks and a cash bar with wine and beer for those 21 and over. \nThere will be two terrific jazz groups performing.  The first is the Avery Gottshall Quartet with Avery Gottshall on drums\, Israel Corona Galan on guitar\, Ryan McNulty on alto saxophone and Matthew Munzner on bass. The second group is the Christopher Arnone Quintet with Christopher Arnone on guitar\, Conor Brennan on drums\, Matthew Munzner on bass\, Malin Carta on saxophone and Alexis Rose Ferreira on voice. \nWe look forward to you joining us for a great night of exceptional jazz music!  This is the last BDJC event this semester but look for upcoming events next fall semester.

DESCRIPTION:MATIN MALIKZADA\, AFGHAN POTTER – TALK AND DEMONSTRATION: Matin is a seventh-generation Afghan master of traditional pottery\, internationally recognized for his technical skill and elegant designs. A native of Istalif\, Afghanistan\, once a vibrant center of ceramic art and commerce\, Matin was forced to flee Afghanistan following the Taliban takeover. Along with his family\, he resettled in New Milford\, where he has established himself as an active artist in the region. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon in White Hall 017 and is sponsored by the Office of Diversity\, the WCSU Muslim Student Association\, and the Department of Art. Professor Jurg Lanzrein\, the beloved WCSU ceramics instructor will be on hand as well.

This band has meticulously put together a show that spares no detail. Their concert recreates the band’s legendary persona in all its youthful glory with period accurate equipment and costumes to spot on musical performances. \nFeaturing great hits including Landslide\, Gypsy\, Rhiannon\, Go Your Own Way\, Don’t Stop\, and this list goes on\, RUMOURS takes you back to a time when FM radio was the center of the universe and bands weren’t afraid to put on a show. DESCRIPTION:WCSU FOOD PANTRY: The WCSU Food Pantry is now open for all students on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. \nThe WCSU Food Pantry is designed to provide support to students who are experiencing food insecurity for any reason. The WCSU Food Pantry is located in the Wolves Den in the lower level of the Midtown Student Center. Students may visit the WCSU Food Pantry once a week for up to twenty (20) items. We are also looking for volunteers to staff the WCSU Food Pantry. \nPlease contact the Dean of Students Office at (203) 837-9700 for more information. \nOn days the university is closed for holidays or inclement weather\, the food pantry will also be closed.

DESCRIPTION:DESTRESS WITH CATS: Come to Warner hall Lyceum anytime between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. to play with cats and learn about feline disabilities. The Institute for Holistic Health Studies shared these kitties with you last semester and are now bringing them back to campus. Petting these kitties can lower your blood pressure and release stress and tension in your body\, and actually release oxytocin\, the “bonding hormone”– it is good for you and good for the kitties!
