DESCRIPTION:BOT SHOP (MEDIA LITERACY WEEK PRESENTATIONS): Who said that?! With increase use of artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots\, sometimes the answer isn’t a “who\,” but rather a “what”. Learn about the history of chatbots and representations of A.I. in popular cinema with WCSU Communications and Media Arts professor\, Dr. Eric Stewart\, at 2 p.m.. Stewart will also discuss the current use and future implications of non-human actors in Hollywood and video games. His 45-minute presentation will be followed by a hands-on workshop in developing chatbots to create an interactive scene based off main characters from original student scripts using the open source scripting language\, RiveScript. \nJoin us at the Haas Library or online for this fascinating talk and workshop on artificial intelligence and chatbots in pop culture and their potential implications in real life.

Any open seats at the start time of the show will be released to other students so they can see the show instead. \nMELANCHOLY PLAY: a chamber musical\nWritten by Sara Ruhl and Todd Almond\nDirected and Music Directed by Justin P. Cowan \nTilly is a bank teller\, and she’s depressed. She’s so beautifully\, alluringly melancholic that everyone she meets falls in love with her\, including her therapist\, her hairdresser and her tailor. But what happens when she stops being so sad? In two lyrical\, poetic parts\, The Melancholy Play: a chamber musical offers a whimsical take on the human quest for love and connection. \nPlease note that audience members must be masked at all times inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center without exception. In addition\, we are enforcing 3 ft. social distancing\, and as such\, seating is extremely limited. Because of the reduced capacity of our theatre\, we are asking all patrons to purchase their ticket in advance here . The Student Previews are open to any WCSU student or faculty. \n**Please note that due to extremely limited seating capacity in the Blackbox theatre\, no latecomers will be allowed in past the show’s start time. Any open seats at the start time of the show will be released to other students so they can see the show instead. \nMELANCHOLY PLAY: a chamber musical\nWritten by Sara Ruhl and Todd Almond\nDirected and Music Directed by Justin P. Cowan \nTilly is a bank teller\, and she’s depressed. She’s so beautifully\, alluringly melancholic that everyone she meets falls in love with her\, including her therapist\, her hairdresser and her tailor. But what happens when she stops being so sad? In two lyrical\, poetic parts\, The Melancholy Play: a chamber musical offers a whimsical take on the human quest for love and connection. \nPlease note that audience members must be masked at all times inside the Visual and Performing Arts Center without exception. In addition\, we are enforcing 3 ft. social distancing\, and as such\, seating is extremely limited. Because of the reduced capacity of our theatre\, we are asking all patrons to purchase their ticket in advance here . Shows are likely to sell out\, so do not wait to purchase at the box office before the show.
