SUMMARY:Ancient Approaches to Modern Maladies
DESCRIPTION:ANCIENT APPROACHES TO MODERN MALADIES: Life in 21st century America is challenging and we all strive to be as healthy (in mind/body/spirit) as possible. DESCRIPTION:MACHINAL: By Sophie Treadwell\, directed by Annie G. Levy. Presented in the MainStage Theatre at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the Westside campus. \nPerformance times: \nFriday\, Nov. 21\, 8 p.m.\nSaturday\, Nov. 22\, 2 p.m.\nSaturday\, Nov. 22\, 8 p.m.\nSunday\, Nov. 23\, 2 p.m. \nClick here to learn more about the production and to select other performance dates/times. \n  \nShe is a cog in a machine she did not build. This visceral\, physical production explores the collapse of a soul forced to submit to the grinding pressures of labor\, gender\, and social expectation. Inspired by the 1928 true crime case of Ruth Snyder and told with the cold precision of an assembly line\, Machinal asks: what happens when the need to get free outweighs the unthinkable cost? \nAccessible seating is available in limited quantity\, please email Eric Gomez\, VPAC Events Coordinator at gomeze@wcsu.edu to inquire about accessible seating. You may also call the box office at (203) 837-3266. \nWCSU student tickets are $10.00 and are available for purchase at the VPAC box office. \nNo refunds are permitted; all sales are final. SUMMARY:Machinal
In Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal\, one woman’s life is shaped and ultimately shattered by the mechanized forces of modern society. Please note that tickets are subject to a higher price at the box office. The venue recommends purchasing your tickets in advance on wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.
