SUMMARY:Health Cares About Domestic Violence Day 2025
DESCRIPTION:HEALTH CARES ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE DAY 2025: The Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is promoting the following webinar from the National Health Resource Center on Domestic Violence and Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation. \nHealth Cares About Domestic Violence Day (HCADV) Day is an annual\, nationally recognized day that takes place on the second Wednesday of October. Sponsored by FUTURES\, HCADV Day raises awareness that domestic violence is a healthcare issue. HCADV Day promotes partnerships between healthcare and domestic violence programs to support survivor health and work together to prevent domestic violence. \nAs the frequency of wildfires\, hurricanes\, floods\, heatwaves\, droughts\, and various other natural disasters continues to rise across the United States and its territories\, health centers and domestic violence programs can expect their operations\, workforce\, and clients to be increasingly impacted. Amidst these challenges\, it is crucial for healthcare providers to recognize the heightened risk of intimate partner violence (IPV) and human trafficking (HT) in areas affected by such disasters. \nThis webinar will detail how to integrate IPV support into emergency preparedness efforts\, including how to develop partnerships between health centers and local DV programs. Guest Speakers will highlight innovations from the field\, key resources and approaches that can be implemented for October Domestic Violence Awareness Month and beyond. \nThis virtual event is from 2 to 3 p.m. Register to attend at https://healthpartnersipve.org/learning-opp/health-cares-about-domestic-violence-day-2025-integrating-domestic-violence-into-emergency-preparedness-planning-response/ \nAt the end of this webinar\, participants will be able to: \nName three ways that natural disasters and emergencies impact the health and wellbeing of survivors of IPV/HT\nDescribe how community-based programs and health centers can formalize partnerships to help support emergency responses\nIdentify two resources to develop and formalize partnerships between health systems and community programs\nFacilitators: Virginia Duplessis\, MSW\, Associate Director\, Health\, Futures Without Violence\nKenede Pratt-McCloud\, Program Assistant\, Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation\, Health Partners on IPV + Exploitation\nSpeakers: Debra M\, Ward\, MPH\, Chief Executive Officer\, YWCA San Gabriel Valley\nRebeca Melendez\, MA\, Director of Services at The Wellness Center\, East Los Angeles Women’s Center\nSara E.
