Each week we will work together to lessen our stress\, improve our moods\, support our brains\, and promote better sleeping patterns through the use of guided meditation. And don’t you worry! No experience in meditation is necessary to join in! \nEach Monday we will explore a different type of guided meditation\, listed below. Each participant will be able to stop in\, unwind\, make themselves a cup of tea\, and redirect their intentions for the week to better help us all cope with our hectic schedules and cumbersome obligations. We look forward to seeing you! \nMarch 4: Lovely Lavender – Join us as we tap into the sweet smell of lavender\, an herb used widely to promote relaxation and calm. \nMarch 11: SPRING BREAK – No meditation \nMarch 18: Self-Love – All too often\, we overwork ourselves and forget to honor ourselves! Join us for this relaxing meditation practicing gratitude for self. \nMarch 25: Taking a Pause – In this meditation we will all learn to pause\, embrace silence\, and tap into our body’s innate power through breathwork and mindfulness. \nApril 1: Divine Laughter – Laughter is an often-neglected wellness tool that works to release stuck energy and call in positivity. Join us as we embrace this tool together! \nApril 8: Lending Kindness – To be kind is the greatest skill of all. Learn how to embrace kindness through mindfulness\, extending it out into the world around you. \nApril 15: Breathe Deep – As we lead busy lives\, we often forget what’s most important: breathing. Wind down with us and engage in mindful breathwork. \nApril 22: Words Have Meaning – Join us as we focus on the meaning words have. In this meditation we will work at tossing away negativity and pulling in positivity. \nApril 29: Rosey Tomorrows – Today we will focus on the king of all flowers: Rose! DESCRIPTION:WCSU M.F.A. VISITING ARTIST LECTURE WITH ERIC AHO\, PAINTER:\nWed\, April 3\, 2024\, 11 a.m. \nVisual & Performing Arts Center\, Room 144\, WCSU Westside campus\nFree & Open to the Public\, Limited Seating Available\nRSVP required. Reserve a spot here. \nEric Aho is a painter who lives and works in Saxtons River\, VT. He studied at the Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design in London and received a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. In 1989\, he participated in the first exchange of scholars in over thirty years between the U.S. and Cuba. He completed his graduate work at the Lahti Art Institute in Finland on a Fulbright Fellowship in 1991-92 and an American-Scandinavian Foundation grant in 1993. \nAho’s works have been exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad. Currently represented by DC Moore Gallery in NYC\, he has had 7 solo exhibitions there from 2009 to 2022. He has also had several museum shows\, including the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art\, the Hood Museum of Art\, and Portland Art Museum. In 2016\, the New Britain Museum of American Art presented “Eric Aho: An Unfinished Point in a Vast Surrounding\,” which comprised over 50 paintings of the French landscape exploring the path of his father’s experience in WW II. \nIn 2009\, Aho was elected to the National Academy Museum. He is a recipient of numerous grants and awards\, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant; the John Koch Award for Painting from the National Academy; and an Artist Residency at the Weir Farm National Historical Park. His works are in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art; The New York Public Library; Museum of Fine Arts\, Boston; New Britain Museum of American Art; Denver Art Museum; and Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco\, among others.

DESCRIPTION:MIDWEEK ART JAM: Join us every Wednesday as we create art together in our fun\, inviting space here on the WCSU Midtown campus. No experience or talent required! We are looking to discover together the power of art\, community\, and creativity through rotating art projects that work to tackle stress\, manage our chaotic lives\, and tame our wandering minds. Art can be a mindful and calming exercise in creative thinking\, but it can also be extraordinarily freeing\, allowing us to let go of perfection and embrace our own unique voice. We will be offering two sessions from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and 2-3 p.m. in the IHHS center (WH 114). And did we mention … there’s free tea! **Note\, we will be skipping March 13 due to Spring Break.
