The event takes place in Vienna on New Year’s Eve\, during a masquerade party hosted by the young Russian Prince Orlofsky\, and involves a host of characters including his wife\, Rosalinda\, one of her early suitors\, Alfred\, as well as her maid\, Adele. In the end\, they all land in jail\, where the prank is finally revealed. \n

DESCRIPTION:MEDITATION MONDAYS: Join us every Monday from noon to 12:30 p.m. this semester for Meditation Mondays\, here in the campus’ very own Institute for Holistic Health Studies (IHHS) located in White Hall Room 114 on the Midtown campus! Each week we will work together to lessen our stress\, improve our moods\, support our brains\, and promote better sleeping patterns through the use of guided meditation. And don’t you worry! No experience in meditation is necessary to join in! \nEach Monday we will explore a different type of guided meditation\, listed below. Each participant will be able to stop in\, unwind\, make themselves a cup of tea\, and redirect their intentions for the week to better help us all cope with our hectic schedules and cumbersome obligations. We look forward to seeing you! \nMarch 4: Lovely Lavender – Join us as we tap into the sweet smell of lavender\, an herb used widely to promote relaxation and calm. \nMarch 11: SPRING BREAK – No meditation \nMarch 18: Self-Love – All too often\, we overwork ourselves and forget to honor ourselves! Join us for this relaxing meditation practicing gratitude for self. \nMarch 25: Taking a Pause – In this meditation we will all learn to pause\, embrace silence\, and tap into our body’s innate power through breathwork and mindfulness. \nApril 1: Divine Laughter – Laughter is an often-neglected wellness tool that works to release stuck energy and call in positivity. Join us as we embrace this tool together! \nApril 8: Lending Kindness – To be kind is the greatest skill of all. Learn how to embrace kindness through mindfulness\, extending it out into the world around you. \nApril 15: Breathe Deep – As we lead busy lives\, we often forget what’s most important: breathing. Wind down with us and engage in mindful breathwork. \nApril 22: Words Have Meaning – Join us as we focus on the meaning words have. In this meditation we will work at tossing away negativity and pulling in positivity. \nApril 29: Rosey Tomorrows – Today we will focus on the king of all flowers: Rose! Join us as we honor this plant of vitality\, self-love\, passion\, and healing. \nMay 6: Finals Cool Down – Now it’s time to take a deep\, soulful breath and cool down from the stress of finals. DESCRIPTION:“EMANCIPATION JUBILATION” – THE THIRD ANNUAL DANBURY JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION: The city’s 3rd annual installation of Danbury Juneteenth will be celebrated from noon to 5 p.m. at the Western Connecticut State University Midtown campus\, 181 White St. in Danbury.\n\nThe Greater Danbury NAACP\, WCSU Racial Justice Coalition and More Community & Faith-based Organizations Proudly Present “Emancipation Jubilation” – the 3rd Annual Danbury Juneteenth Celebration. There will be live entertainment provided by The Rahsaan Langley Project (TRLP)\, one of Connecticut’s premier R&B bands and this year’s musical headliner\, all day music by D.J. Juan Coon of 94.3 WYBC Radio Station as well as other local artists\, gospel choirs\, dancers and performers incl. returning hip hop artist D.J. Gaines\, a Step Show & Stroll Showcase featuring members of the Divine 9 Fraternities and Sororities\, with more being added. The Danbury Museum will once again sponsor the Juneteenth Exhibit and Walking Tour as featured Cultural & Historical Activities\, with The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut curating an Artists & Artisans Market to provide an artisanal experience for the community and local artists and artisans the opportunity to exhibit their work to its best advantage. Across from the main stage will be a Wellness Center & Health Fair providing FREE health care screenings\, Kids Corner with children’s activities (e.g.\, arts & crafts\, ballooning\, book giveaways\, face painting\, storytelling by renowned children’s book authors\, etc.)\, local vendor & resource stations with merchandise for sale as well as educational resources (e.g.\, employment opportunities)\, a variety of food trucks and so much more!
