DESCRIPTION:“THE FAMILY I HAD\,” DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING AND DIRECTOR Q&A: The Kathwari Honors Program and Dr. Casey Jordan present a screening of The Family I Had\, a documentary film by Katie Green and Carlye Rubin of Smoke & Apple Films\, with a discussion of the film with the directors and Dr. Jordan to follow. This event is free and open to the public at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the Midtown campus. \nSmoke & Apple Films is an all-female filmmaking team who produce feature-length documentaries and short form non-fiction content that parlay powerful storytelling into action. The Family I Had tells the story of intra-family violence and juvenile incarceration through a mother’s unwavering love for her son who killed her daughter. After premiering at Tribeca Film Festival in April 2017\, it won the Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary at Raindance International Film Festival and The Gracie Award for Best Documentary in 2018.
