DESCRIPTION:WHICH WAY HOME – CONVERSATIONS ON IMMIGRATION: The World Languages Club\, the Department of World Languages and Composition\, and Chapter Chi Zeta of the National Hispanic Honors Society SDP National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society are pleased to host a Movie Night on Thursday\, Sept. 22\, at 5 p.m. in Higgins 226 on the Midtown campus. \nThe evening will begin with a presentation by Dr. Alba Hawkins\, a distinguished professor of Spanish and translator who places human rights at the center of her career. Following her talk\, attendees will have the chance to engage in conversation with Dr. Hawkins before viewing the documentary “Which Way Home.” \nSnacks and light refreshments will be provided. Students and faculty are warmly invited to join us for this meaningful and engaging event.

Join us for a discussion with Salvadoran community organizers & advocates at 12:30 p.m. in Room 226 in Higgins Hall on the Midtown campus\, or virtually. \nRegistration Required: Click HERE to Register!\nAttend In-Person in Higgins 226 or Virtually \nGuest Speakers: Zulma Tobar\, long-time community organizer\, working with 30+ migrant sending rural communities in El Salvador. She works on issues of education\, environmental justice\, advocacy\, and was raised by a single mother who survived the massacre in Guadalupe\, Suchitoto in 1983. Kelly Calles is co-coordinator of US/El Salvador Sister Cities with Zulma. She specializes in human rights\, governance and democracy. She has worked with civil society organizations\, participated in several electoral observation volunteer in Central and South America\, and participated in international youth forums OAS programs. Maren Walsh is a grassroots organizer in El Salvador & Mexico.
