DESCRIPTION:DENIM DAY: Join The Center for Empowerment and Education from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center Lower Lobby for Denim Day tabling in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)! \nWrite on denim jeans\, provided by CEE\, to take a stand against victim blaming\, combat rape culture\, and share supportive messages to survivors of domestic or sexual violence. \nDenim Day asks us to make a social and fashion statement by wearing jeans on the last Wednesday in April as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court to overturn a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans\, she must have helped the person who raped her remove them\, thereby implying consent. DESCRIPTION:SILENT WITNESS EXHIBIT: Come visit our Silent Witness Exhibit from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Westside Campus Center  in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The exhibit consists of statues of individuals\, across the state of Connecticut\, who have died due to acts of domestic and dating violence. All participants will be encouraged to reflect and share ways they can make a difference in the community\, both safely and effectively\, to help break the cycle of interpersonal violence. \nEvent hosted by The Center for Empowerment and Education.
