By 1974, he was firmly established as one of America\u2019s best-selling performers and was among the most beloved entertainers of his era. He had four No. 1 hits and a slew of Top 10s that resulted in 14 gold and eight platinum albums. His \u201cGreatest Hits\u201d album sold more than 10 million copies.\u00a0Tragically he died in\u00a0 1997 when the experimental plane he was piloting crashed in California.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\">25 years later, Ted Vigil is honored to pay homage to the man and his music.
