Born in Berrien Springs, Michigan, he received his B.A. degree from Hope College (Michigan) and his M.F..A degree from the University of Delaware. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, and is a professor of painting and drawing at Hofstra University. Since 1998, Lee’s work has been shown throughout the U.S. in galleries and museums, including the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Islip Art Museum.

International exhibitions have been held in England, France, Belgium, Germany, and Japan. He is represented by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery in NYC, where he has had six solo shows, most recently in September 2024. From the press release for that show, ”Lee challenges notions of painting as object and painting as experimentation. A promiscuous reverence for found and foraged materials gives Lee’s work a recognizable playfulness . . .” Lee is a recipient of awards, including artist residencies from the Farpath Foundation in Dijon, France, and from the Edward Albee Foundation in Montauk, New York.

Since 2001, Lee’s work has been reviewed in numerous publications: The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Art in America, Artforum, New York Magazine, Huffington Post, Brooklyn Rail, and Hyperallergic.

Reserve a spot at www.eventbrite.com/e/visiting-artist-lecture-jim-lee-interdisciplinary-artist-tickets-1153042032759.

VISITING ARTIST LECTURE – JIM LEE, INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTIST: Tue, February 4, 11 a.m. Visual & Performing Arts Center WCSU, Westside campus, room 144 Free & Open to the Public Limited Seating Available RSVP required Jim Lee is an interdisciplinary artist …

[222,120,524,171,398,399
74,79
post-52237","tribe_events","type-tribe_events","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-abstract-art","tag-art","tag-department-of-art","tag-lecture","tag-svpa","tag-vpac","tribe_events_cat-art","tribe_events_cat-speaker","cat_art","cat_speaker
["GET
