(No, you do not have to stay in your room \u2014 this is about being grounded in Mother Nature!!) Research has shown that spending time in Nature (some call it Vitamin N) has a wealth of health benefits. We know that plants give off oxygen that we need, but other compounds released by trees, grasses, and shrubs have beneficial effects on our bodies, minds, and spirits. These chemical compounds, called phytochemicals, can help to reduce blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety and stimulate and strengthen our immune systems<\/p>\n<p>In addition, simply by taking off our rubber-soled shoes and standing in the grass (or standing in the sand at the beach ) we are able to absorb the ions and energy of the earth \u2014 we are grounded in Mother Nature! This earth energy helps to counteract some of the stressors of fluorescent lights and other pollutants of modern-day buildings.
