Approval: June 18, 1989<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc14678703\"><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 70%\">Part-time Undergraduate Students<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW78794239 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW78794239 BCX8\" data-ccp-parastyle=\"Normal (Web)\">Dean\u2019s List recognition is awarded to Part-time matriculated undergraduate students at the end of the Spring semester.\u202f \u202fTo be eligible, students must have been part time during both the fall and spring semesters and successfully completed a minimum of 12 graded semester hours within that academic year (fall and spring semesters) with a minimum grade point average for the year of 3.5.\u202f Students are ineligible for the Dean\u2019s list if they have either:\u202f been issued \u201cincomplete\u201d grades at the time the Dean\u2019s List was produced or were enrolled in pass\/fail courses during the grading period, reducing the student\u2019s gradable course load below 12 credits.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW78794239 BCX8\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233117&quot;:false,&quot;134233118&quot;:false,&quot;201341983&quot;:2,&quot;335557856&quot;:16777215,&quot;335559738&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:150,&quot;335559740&quot;:360}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><em>Senate Approved R-07-09-03 <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><em>Administrative Approval 10\/26\/07<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc14678704\"><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 70%\">Academic Probation Policy<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Academic Warning: Students shall be placed on Academic Warning the first fall or spring semester in which their cumulative GPA falls below 2.0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Academic Probation<\/strong>: Students who are on Academic Warning and fail to raise their cumulative GPA to the minimum 2.0 in the following fall or spring semester shall be placed on Academic Probation.\u00a0 Students on Academic Probation shall be allowed to continue at the University but shall remain on probation provided their semester GPA is at least 2.3. Once the cumulative GPA reaches 2.0, the student shall be removed from Academic Probation and shall be returned to Good Standing. Students shall have three (3) semesters to raise their cumulative GPA to 2.0. If the cumulative GPA is below 2.0 after the third semester of probation, the student shall be academically suspended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Academic Suspension:<\/strong> Students on Academic Probation shall be Academically Suspended in the fall or spring semester if (1) their semester GPA is below a 2.3 and cumulative GPA is below a 2.0, or (2) their cumulative GPA remains below 2.0 after the third semester of probation. Students who are academically suspended from Western Connecticut State University are no longer matriculated at the University.<\/p>\n<p>Suspended students can appeal for reinstatement to regain matriculation status, they may do so during or subsequent to the semester in which they are non-matriculated. Reinstatement to the University does not guarantee acceptance or reacceptance to programs with GPA requirements higher than 2.0.\u00a0 All appeals shall be made to their Academic Dean. Once a student\u2019s dismissal appeal has been granted, if a cumulative GPA 2.0 is not attained in the first semester back, the student will be dismissed. Students are ineligible to appeal if they are dismissed a second time.<\/p>\n<p>Dismissed students may register part-time as non-matriculated students but must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher prior to attempting 30 credits as a non-matriculated student, to return to good standing and apply for readmission to their last program of study.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 560px;text-align: right\"><em>Admin. Approval: April 18, 1986*<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 560px;text-align: right\"><em>Administration Approval of Revisions: May 31, 2024<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>*Clarification of President: Of course, individual schools or programs may have standards for probation and dismissal from that school or program that are higher than the University standards.
