Location: Midtown Campus, Warner Hall 207
Description: What the job entails is really an internship-worthy experience where you are doing some leg work for the UndocuAlly Task Force (UATF). We like to assess what your fortés are before we decide specifically what you’ll be doing so, that in mind, here are a list of the kinds of work we have available. Note that if there are one or two of these you can’t do we should be able to still make it work:
- Attend UndocuAlly Task Force (UATF) meetings
- Take minutes for the UATF general meetings
- Participate in at least 2 of the 4-5 subcommittee meetings (this includes Western Beyond Borders (WBB), Financial Access Subcommittee, Curriculum and Advising Subcommittee, TRaining and Outreach Subcommittee, Scholarship Fundraising Subcommmittee, etc.) – meetings for subcommittees are scheduled based on availability
- Do minor website updates
- Maintain a student-friendly social media for UATF
- Contribute as a board member on WBB
- Serve as a liaison between WBB and the UndocuAlly Task Force
- Do community outreach on and off campus
- Work on publicity and posters, including creation and leafleting
- Additional tasks as they come up
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with the undocumented community either through an organization such as Connecticut Students for a Dream or informally within the community OR recommendation of a professor with whom you have taken a course on undocumented migration, or globalization and migration, or similar
- Successful candidates must be dependable, reliable, and demonstrate familiarty with immigration issues
- Digital abilities are a plus
Hours/Schedule: Weekly hours can vary depending on schedule, on average about 5 hours per week
Pay Rate: $16.00 / hr.
