Peer\u202fmentors serve as guides and role models for incoming first-year students as they transition to college and find their place at WCSU. Mentors assist in a First Year Experience class, work 1-1 with students, and host workshops and events on campus. Peer mentors benefit by gaining leadership experience, helping others, and finding a deeper connection to WestConn. Opportunity to become a Certified Peer Mentor through CRLA, College Reading and Learning Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Requirements\/Desired:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2.9 Cumulative GPA or higher<\/li>\n<li>A positive attitude towards college<\/li>\n<li>A history of academic achievement or growth<\/li>\n<li>A desire to help others<\/li>\n<li>Active campus engagement a plus!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Hours\/Schedule: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">4-6 hours\/week; must be able to attend (1) section of UNI 101 in the fall<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Pay Rate: <\/span><\/strong>$16.94\/hr<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Payroll Type: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Department Payroll &amp; <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff5000\">Federal Work Study<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Contact: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat\">Lauren Arvisais, FY Peer Mentor Coordinator.
