In 2018, WCSU leadership identified that many of our students were struggling with unexpected emergency expenses. The types of assistance needed by students ranged from book expenses to food insecurities to short term housing arrangements to unforeseen financial emergencies that have had an impact on a student’s academic performance. The Colonials Care Student Assistance Fund was established to assist WCSU students who encounter these situations.
This fund was originally created by donations from SUOAF/AFSCME, the Student Government Association and the WCSU Foundation, Inc. The goal of this fund is to help students during a time of need, to stay in school and make progress toward a degree.
