{"id":2099,"date":"2020-08-14T22:12:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-14T22:12:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/housing\/?page_id=2099"},"modified":"2023-03-06T15:22:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T15:22:09","slug":"information-desk-staff-employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/housing\/employment\/information-desk-staff-employment\/","title":{"rendered":"Information Desk Staff Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pl-2099\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-2099-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-2099-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-2099-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_media_image panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">What is an Info Desk Worker?<\/h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"243\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/housing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/InfoDeskWorkerEmploy20-e1597340075822-243x300.jpg\" class=\"image wp-image-3433  attachment-medium size-medium\" alt=\"Info Desk worker cover\" style=\"max-width: 100%; height: auto;\" title=\"What is an Info Desk Worker\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/housing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/InfoDeskWorkerEmploy20-e1597340075822-243x300.jpg 243w, https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/housing\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/55\/2020\/08\/InfoDeskWorkerEmploy20-e1597340075822.jpg 389w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pgc-2099-0-1\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-2099-0-1-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"1\" >\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Each building has an info desk near the entry.\u00a0 The desk is staffed by student employees who are responsible for identifying who is coming in to the building, along with a variety of other things.\u00a0 They are the second level of access control to buildings after the locks.\u00a0 Info desk staff will ask everyone entering the building for an ID to ascertain whether they are residents or guests.\u00a0 If a guest, the info desk staff will assist with contacting the resident, who is required to come to the desk to sign guests into the building.<\/p>\n<p>Info desk staff also provide services such as mail delivery, sign out of games, gaming equipment, and cleaning supplies, as well as blue\/green moving bins.\u00a0 They regularly answer phone calls from university and non-university callers, and help to direct those calls to the appropriate people.<\/p>\n<p>The info desk is staffed by the building&#8217;s RAs, as well as other student employees, in shifts that generally are 1 &#8211; 4 hours in length.\u00a0 Currently, the desks are open Monday &#8211; Wednesday from 10 am &#8211; midnight; Thursday and Friday from 10 am &#8211; 2 am; Saturday from noon &#8211; 2 am; and Sunday from noon- midnight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-2099-1\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-2099-1-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-2099-1-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"2\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">How do I become an Info Desk worker?<\/h3>\t\t\t<div class=\"textwidget\"><p>Applications are available much of the year, but the chief times for hiring tend to be in April for the Fall semester and November for the Spring semester.<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;ve completed an application, either the RD who coordinates hiring for Info Desk staff, or the RD of a building in which you&#8217;re interested in working, will contact you about an interview.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re currently holding interviews virtually due to the Covid-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><div id=\"pg-2099-2\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-2099-2-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-2099-2-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_text panel-first-child panel-last-child\" data-index=\"3\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Do I get paid to be a desk worker?
