There’s a lot of information to know when you’re living on campus.\u00a0 This page will help to put the things you’ll need in a convenient space to find it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

There are a variety of forms students living on campus may need to use from time to time, including Guest Visit Parental Permission Online forms, Housing Contract Cancellation Request forms, Disability Housing Request forms, and others.\u00a0 Click on the FORMS icon to the left to reach that page.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

If you are considering making a move, or where you’ll live in the future, here’s a quick link to the current costs for housing on campus.\u00a0 Please be sure to take a look, because a room change may also change your bill for both your room and your meal plan.\u00a0 Rates are calculated by the day when making a room change, based on the number of days in each room type.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Fall Room Selection<\/h3>\n
\n\t

All room selection will be done online, utilizing The Housing Director (THD) software from Adirondack Solutions.\u00a0 This system is also in use at Central, Eastern, and Southern, and we\u2019re happy to have joined with them in utilizing a system that will make everything easier for you!<\/p>\n

Although room selection is completed for the fall for current students, here's the outline for the general process:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Pay your housing deposit by March 20th<\/sup><\/span>. <\/strong>Once you\u2019ve paid your deposit;<\/li>\n
  2. Wait 6-12 hours<\/strong><\/span>. Once that time has passed, log in to the Housing Portal<\/a> on the FORMS page of the Housing website.\u00a0 The Housing Portal<\/a> is the top left button on the page.\u00a0 (You can also click the Room Selection button<\/strong><\/span> to the left to be taken there now.)<\/li>\n
  3. The Housing Portal<\/a> link will deliver you to a Self-Service THD page<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 There, you will be able to log in and begin the process there by selecting\u2026<\/li>\n
  4. Applications<\/strong> (<\/span>on the left menu).\u00a0 This will open your application.\u00a0 Complete the application, making sure to fill in all of the required information. Don't wait to the last minute!\u00a0 Applications must be completed by the end of the day on March 22nd<\/sup><\/em>.\u00a0 (*If you don't see the left menu, look for the \u2261 button near the top left, click it, and the left menu will appear).<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. You will then be able to return to the main menu page<\/strong><\/span>, and may start to identify the roommate(s) you\u2019d like to live with.\n
      \n
    1. Please NOTE:\u00a0 You will ONLY be able to select the roommate(s) of your choice if they have already deposited and completed their application(s), but you can take time to remind them, and then go back in to add them to your request once they\u2019ve completed their own deposit(s) and application(s).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    2. You\u2019ll receive further instructions <\/strong><\/span>for the actual room selection process.\u00a0 Please be sure to check your email regularly.<\/li>\n
    3. Be patient!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span>There are loads of things behind the scenes to prepare for all of this, and lots of questions you may have.\u00a0 We\u2019ll work it all out, and we do think you\u2019ll love the greater flexibility this system will give you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Gender Neutral Housing<\/h3>\n
      \n\t

      WCSU offers all students the option of selecting gender neutral housing.\u00a0 Gender neutral housing refers to a housing option in which two or more students mutually agree to share a multiple-occupancy bedroom, suite, or apartment without regard to the gender of the occupants.<\/p>\n

      Gender-neutral housing is an option for any continuing student wishing to choose their roommate(s) regardless of gender, and live in rooms, suites and apartments without a gender designation. Only students who choose to live in gender-neutral assignments will be assigned to these spaces.\u00a0 Gender Neutral Housing is not exclusive to LGBTQ+ students.\u00a0 Housing & Residence Life will, however, work with transgender and non-binary students, including freshmen, on an individual basis to find suitable accommodations.<\/p>\n

      Students may select gender-neutral rooms, suites, and apartments if they have selected to participate in Gender-Neutral Housing when asked in their Student Housing Application. We encourage roommates to communicate with each other about their plans to avoid any confusion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

      Due Dates<\/h3>\t\t\t

      As things become due (like housing deposits, job applications, or requests to stay on campus during breaks, etc.), check out this area for information on those due dates.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div>

      In-Semester Room Change<\/h3>\t\t\t

      From the time assignments are made until the end of the first two weeks of the semester, students may not request a room change.\u00a0 However, once we reach the first day of classes, you may put in your request to move if you want to be considered for a room switch.<\/p>\n

      You may do this by emailing your building’s resident director to inform him or her of your desire to change rooms.\u00a0 If you know the student you wish to live with, be sure to give his\/her name to the RD.\u00a0 Your friend may also want to let the RD know that they’d like you to move in with them as well.\u00a0 If you are looking to change buildings, you’ll want to email both your current RD and the RD of the building you’d like to move to.<\/p>\n

      Generally, room changes are permitted from the second to the 6th week of the semester.\u00a0 Room changes may occur outside of that time, but those are almost always for emergency or occupancy reasons as determined by the housing office.<\/p>\n

      Please be aware that, if you have a space in your room, it is available for others to move into.\u00a0 We try very hard to give you notice that someone is coming in, but regardless, we expect and hope that you will welcome them and get to know them.<\/p>\n

      Similarly, if you are hoping to have a friend move into your room, it’s not a good idea to make your roommate uncomfortable and feel like they have to move out.\u00a0 We will not force anyone from their assigned space – it must be agreed upon by your roommate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
