{"id":15,"date":"2018-03-06T14:39:38","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T14:39:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wcsu.wpengine.com\/neasc\/public-comments\/"},"modified":"2018-04-19T14:05:29","modified_gmt":"2018-04-19T14:05:29","slug":"public-comments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/public-comments\/","title":{"rendered":"Invitation for Public Comments"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"content\">\n<p class=\"title\"> Invitation for Public Comments<\/p>\n<p> Western Connecticut State University will undergo a  comprehensive evaluation visit on September 29, 2013-October 2, 2013, by a team  representing the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England  Association of Schools and Colleges.<\/p>\n<p> The Commission on Institutions of Higher Education is one of  seven accrediting commissions in the United States that provide institutional  accreditation on a regional basis.\u00a0 Accreditation  is voluntary and applies to the institution as a whole.\u00a0 The Commission, which is recognized by the U.  S. Department of Education, accredits approximately 240 institutions in the  six-state New England region.<\/p>\n<p> Western Connecticut State University has been accredited by  the Commission since 1954 and was last reviewed in 2003.\u00a0 Its accreditation by the New England  Association encompasses the entire institution.<\/p>\n<p>For the past year and a half, Western Connecticut State  University has been engaged in a process of self-study, addressing the Commission\u2019s <em>Standards for Accreditation<\/em>.\u00a0 An evaluation team will visit the institution  to gather evidence that the self-study is thorough and accurate.\u00a0 The team will recommend to the Commission a  continuing status for the institution.\u00a0  Following a review process, the Commission itself will take the final  action.<\/p>\n<p>The public is invited to submit comments regarding the institution  to:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Public Comment on Western  Connecticut State University<br \/>             Commission on Institutions of  Higher Education<br \/>             New England Association of  Schools and Colleges<br \/>             3 Burlington Woods Drive,  Suite 100<br \/>             Burlington, MA 01803-4514<br \/>             E-mail:\u00a0 <a href=\"mailto:cihe@neasc.org\">cihe@neasc.org<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>          Public Comments must address substantive matters related to  the quality of the institution.\u00a0 The  Commission cannot settle disputes between individuals and institutions, whether  those involve faculty, students, administrators, or members of other  groups.\u00a0 Comments will not be treated as  confidential and must include the name, address, and telephone number of the person  providing the comments.<\/p>\n<p> Public Comments must be received by October 2, 2013.\u00a0 The Commission cannot guarantee that comments  received after that date will be considered.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Invitation for Public Comments Western Connecticut State University will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit on September 29, 2013-October 2, 2013, by a team representing the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"left-navigation.php","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-15","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/15","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=15"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/15\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.wcsu.edu\/neasc\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=15"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
